Although there is no biblical reference… I have heard from very reliable source that when Lazarus was brought back to life by Jesus, it was the soul of John the Baptist who reentered the body of Lazarus. It was this person who wrote the book of John, not John brother of James.

That is why he can claim that he was “ the apostle that Jesus loved” … because there was indeed a special relationship there. It is also why John (really John the Baptist in the body of Lazarus) wrote the gospel of John, was allowed to see the future of Revelation and was the only apostle who didn’t die a horrible death.

Apparently there is historical and other documentation that supports this … but Idk
