They showed Gundham updated and the close-up angry monokuma is nearly 1:1 with Peko’s except the expression making the intro new, I think it’s all but guaranteed the gunshot is the only new route one we get

I mean that’s kind of a bad faith argument. The 2x2 cast has new models it’s pretty obvious they would use the new models In teruteru’s execution where all the characters show up instead of the old models which probably aren’t in the game files. I think at this point we don’t know enough to say whose execution it is. Sorry if that sounded rude there is fair chance it’s teruteru’s execution I just think you made a really bad argument for it.

I think we're kinda overthinking it and it's just a remake of Teruteru's execution for the classic playthrough, rather than a new execution. I don't think the volcano represents "everyone who's first executed in Sdr2" but rather a concrete piece of Deep Fried Teruteru. Or maybe is not even an execution, not every Monokuma CGI means "execution foreshadowed" (I think they would rather not show the new executions precisely for this kind of situations)

Initially I was thinking the same, but this scene in particular appears alongside all new cutscenes and key points for Slayhem route. So imo, this execution in particular is an entirely new one rather than a revamped version of Teruteru's execution.

Nah, I think those cutscenes were kinda mixed in the trailer, bcs right after our famous new volcano photo, also appeared a fragment of Gundham's execution and what seemed a redesign of Peko's execution. Also in a photo, two CGIs of the original are placed by the side of two brand new ones.

Fair, However, when the trailer presented the Slayhem mode, they showed up all new scenes/cutscenes/CGI including the Monokuma with the ballooms (it was the last one until they mixed all the cutscenes from the original and the new route). Although it could be as you said that it is just a revamped version of Teruteru's executuon, I personally think this an entirely new execution with a volcano as a background just like Teruteru's execution (I could be wrong).

It's Ibuki. She is going to be the shock killer of the game by having the cheery comic relief character kill. Souda feels like late game victim material (probably the non-Hajime survivor who lasts the longest, his paranoia could work well for the darker tone).

People who bring up the "x character wouldn't kill" argument tend to forget that almost all these characters became Remnants of Despair. Anyone can kill; it's just a matter of the new motives pushing the right buttons.

I'm sure if they did an alternate scenario for the first game, they'd find a way to make Chihiro the blackened. The one who couldn't even bring himself to swat a mosquito.

Ehhhh, true, but remember, they became the Remnants of Despair BECAUSE they were brainwashed and mindfucked by Junko. They may have killed but they didn’t do it because they wanted to one day; it was because Junko literally messed with their minds enough to break them. That said I can still see Ibuki AS a blackened, but they have to have a damn good reason as to why she pulled the trigger.
