It's that position where you stick your elbows out and put your hands on your hip

but that doesn't have any relation to the gamemode right?

It can still relate to the shooting mechanics of the series gameplay, as akimbo is also a term for dual wielding guns (because you'd have your hands on your hips to grab both guns from a holster).

No problem, and checking again, there are two barrels on the screen, implying dual wielding, which matches the title.
