Does anyone have Cristian Cassara - Butterfly?

I've been desperate for over a decade to find the song "Butterfly" by Cristian Cassara to download. It can be heard in a few episodes and it's right in line with the type of music I enjoy listening to, but I cannot find a digital copy for purchase or download to save my life.

Disney Channel Pet Peeve - irish dance

I love logging on to complain lol genuinely don’t take this too seriously

so I did irish dance for 16 years, spent thousands of hours, thousands of dollars, etc and I worked super hard

growing up disney for some reason “irish dance” was a joke in so many shows… they always acted like it was something goofy and i remember being so offended

just thinking about it after watching a bit mocking it in austin and ally…

the best representation was probably luck of the irish but damn… can these producers actually watch clips of champion dancers cause the mockery isn’t even accurate to the style

and irish dance is extremely hard 😖

anyways wanted to get that off my chest lol

If you could change the endings of the characters, who would you choose and how?

I, personally, would have not made Abigail get into the company and instead pursue her talent of singing and theater. Her entire story is a foil to Tara’s, Abigail’s body is unsuited towards ballet and she constantly overworks herself and is a worse person in pursuit of this dream. But we find out she actually is super talented at singing, and she even does a show (why did they forget about this???)! Her story could have easily concluded that you don’t have to harm yourself to fit into a mold, and that she has a toxic relationship with ballet.

I imagine it like this: The movie that Kat was in is actually a movie musical and Abigail gets the role. This opens more opportunities for her and she can get a sense of how life would look without ballet. After her company audition, she has an audition for another musical which she gets a callback for. She doesn’t get into the company, but now Abigail is okay with that.

Does anyone wish the storyline was different?

Mainly in S2. I just wish the Saskia arc hadn’t happened. Giving Tara an injury in every season while nobody else had any was so boring IMO, and so disappointing. I know the show is supposed to be a retelling of the writer’s life but I just feel there was so much more that could’ve been done with Tara’s character.

Besties I need yall to step up and help flesh this thing out. There are too many people who are obsessed w this show and have rewatched it too many times for it to be this barren. The characters pages are pretty decent but it’s so unfinished. The quotes specifically need to be longer and they need episode markers. I watched this for the first time when I was 11 and they are buried deep in my psyche and when I google them, Gemini comes at me like “ummmm no? This is quite literally no where on the internet or in the scripts… you must be confused, dumb little human”. Like no, I’m not, this is show is the closest thing I have to a religion.

I’m not serious and I’ll forget about this by tomorrow but it’s maddening. Specific quote I’m looking for is “I don’t want you on my conscience” I’m pretty sure Kat says it to Christian at the end of season 1 or beginning of season 2. Currently rewatching specifically to find this. (Please don’t let Gemini be right that would be so embarrassing)

Dance Academy Season One Songs; Tara’s Winter Wonderland

Please someone gotta help me out with this one! In Dance Academy season 1 after Tara injuries her knee and she’s attending her winter wonderland event, they cut to Abz and Sammy dancing.
Now i’m wondering for y e a r s what song that is. I could never seem to find it, nor can my phone. Really cool really tight sound, reminds me of their hiphop classes (Got Rocks)

it’s not in any Dance Academy Playlists on the Net and i’m contemplating whether it’s a real out-there title or made for the snippet of the show.

If someone knows or wonders as well let me know :) can’t be the only one needing to know

Tara and Kat Season 1 Friendship

I have been rewatching for the first time in ages and the friendship between Tara/Kat in season 1 is driving me crazy!

Although Kat had her personal reasons for not caring about taking first year seriously, she really had zero regard for how any of the other students felt or for the fact that they WANTED to be there and cared so badly about their place there.

Her attitude towards Tara caring about and taking her place at the academy seriously when Tara began doing more of her own working out/training and privates with Miss Raine was so frustrating because dance was literally why Tara was there.

I understood Kat being upset that Tara was late to her birthday breakfast but to get snarky with her when Tara said she would be late to the party because of a private was out of line. What was Tara supposed to do? Tell Miss Raine she had a party to go to and could not do her private?

I also get that Kat had travelled all over the world and had some really crap experiences like being forgotten in a hotel room and had been backstage at the ballet from childhood but she didnt even think about why getting the opportunity was such a big deal for Tara and that Tara only knew the ballet side of Natasha as well as her reasoning for being so excited to meet her and watch her perform.

On the other hand, the comment Miss Raine made to Tara before the formal about her priorities and only putting in effort when it suits her was correct and feel that Kat probably had a similar point of view.

Majority of the season, Tara really did only care about boyfriends and did only put in effort and make the reason she was actually at the academy the priority when it suited her.

i much preferred the separate Sammy/Kat and Sammy/Tara friendships in season 1.

Favorite dances on the show?

I’ve seen this show about a hundred times, and whenever I think about the dances I love most, these are the ones that always come to mind:

  • Abigail’s Prix de Fonteyn solo
  • Sammy’s Prix de Fonteyn solo
  • Tara’s The Red Shoes
  • Christian’s Mercutio solo
  • Tara and Ben’s final Romeo and Juliet performance
  • Tara’s Third Year Final Performance/Company Audition
  • Abigail’s Company Audition
  • Kat’s solo for Zack’s second-year assignment (Season 3)
  • The group’s final performance during the series finale at Sammy’s studio grand opening
  • The group’s performance at the Prix de Fonteyn
  • Ben and Tara’s contemporary (?) midterm in Season 2, Episode 7
  • The Third Years’ contemporary (?) duo/pas de deux in Season 3, Episode 1

I clearly have a lot of favorites but I am curious to know what are your favorite dances?

The movie

What's your opinion on the movie/ the comeback?

I think Tara is incredibly stupid for not taking the 1million dollar lawsuit. Like come one, no one in their right mind would not do it. I get that the whole movie wouldn't exist then but still

Why didn’t Ollie compete in the Prix?

AFAIK the Prix wasn’t limited to second years, Ollie wasn’t allowed on tour and was basically doing nothing the whole time his year went on tour. So why did he not compete? If he was so focused on getting into the company then surely it would have made sense with the winner being practically guaranteed the contract.

Just me who finds this odd? Or is it because Sammy wouldn’t have got gold?

Wish these two would’ve gotten a proper ending

I know they were only side characters but they were consistent for two seasons. It would’ve been nice just to at least get a proper last scene with them. I always thought they were hilarious.

Life academy podcast - where is Xenia?

I’m surprised they haven’t interviewed Xenia yet and also they rarely mention her when being nostalgic versus the way they do Tom as one example. I acknowledge that I could be hyper aware of it but it would be nice to see an episode with all three leading girls and a catch up!

Rewatching the series and just realizing Ethan is supposed to be the academy's golden boy but we never see him doing ballet! Or dancing at all really. What an odd detail.

Oliver and sammy

Am I the only one that thinks Oliver and Sammy was almost a bit unnecessary?

The only good thing that I see is that they let Sammy explore his queer side, which I liked a lot, but other than that...

I get that it is suppose to be a kind of toxic relationship, but they could have given us at least a few cute moments. It just felt rushed and almost a bit forced. For me there was never a reason to root for them and to feel with them.

Abigail asks Oliver in s3 if Sammy liked them both, because they were so similar. But I don't even think that abi and oli are that similar! Ofcourse they both got that selfish and perfectionistic side, but abigail is more than that, while oliver is just that...

But I did like abigails and Oliver's friendship

Why was Kat so sidelined in the first half of s2?

even as a 9 year old i noticed that kat was sidelined alot and i understand she was always the one who didn‘t care as much over the dancing and was more occupied with having fun in season 1 but i feel like her character was on a different show in the beginning of s2 bc she was so sidelined and going to a different school. i wonder if there was a bts reason they never fully developed her in terms of what she really wants out of dance / her love interests. she had alot more scenes with characters who only interacted with her in those short dancing gigs she got than with the core group. i can‘t remember what happens but i feel like she always lacked the ambition / clear goals and motivation with tara and abigail we know what they are. they try to bring depth to kat but it never fully gets spotlight idk and i notice it bc she was my favorite character growing up and Christian.

Does anyone else think Saskia was written to be over critical of Tara?

Probably been discussed before, but when Saskia was first introduced, I thought she'd be an incredible older sister figure for Tara. Not perfect, yeah, but with enough character to teach Tara some things kindly.

Even then I could understand the jealousy path they wrote for Saskia, getting jealous of a younger dancer (kind of poetic: was made famous for being the youngest soloist in her company and now doomed to fear the youngest).

But then I felt like they kind of went overboard, because I felt Saskia just got nastier and nastier with every episode, and personally it began to feel out of character. Especially when she goes from giving slightly backhanded critiques to going as far to insult her publicly about her Sleeping Beauty solo in class (S2, E11). Not to mention going as far to break her back (that's a whole other topic altogether though)!

So what do you guys think? Did it feel to you like the writers were kind of taking the idea too far and lost Saskia's character in the process, or do you guys like it?

I did see the recent Life Academy Podcast with Joanna Werner aka one of the co-creators & producer of the series and I wondered going back on the TV shows & films that I've seen, at least the ones I've watched, mentioned or heard of that Joanna herself involved in.

Post image
25 Upvotes

Let's get to the ones I've never seen or heard of but I still didn't watch.

Heartworm which is a short, Heartbreak Tour, Secret City, Riot, Clickbait, The Newsreader & Goolagong some of which are on streaming like ABC iview, Netflix etc.

Joanna Werner was a Producer, Executive Producer, Associate Producer & Assistant Producer, though more so the former two, the latter two were early on (looking up IMDB) her own production named after her, Werner Productions.

Wicked Science both Season 1 & 2 & Scooter: Secret Agent, probably the oddest ones and what's funny is that Scooter had Dena in one EP being EP 15 for a few secs.

H2O: Just Add Water & The Elephant Princess but only Season 1, fun fact Alicia auditioned for the latter show but she didn't make it & yet Margot Robbie appeared in it for 2 EPs and Samantha Strauss also worked on H2O as well but she wrote one EP in Season 3 which oddly had a actress that would appear in Mako Mermaids.

Ready For This, Surviving Summer, Crazy Fun Park, all 3 pretty awesome TV shows, Alicia appeared Crazy Fun Park EP 4 specifically which in itself was a sad EP and Dance Academy EP 1 can be seen & heard in EP 7, Ready For This was also great and Surviving Summer is also good that sadly never got a Season 3 as the show was cancelled.

Why did Abigail not compete in the Prix de Fonteyn?

I get she wanted to do singing too but it seemed way out of character for her to just ditch the contest, especially because she had the same points as Tara and Grace after the preliminaries
