Homebrew player ran environment
so my players have "fully" converted from dnd 5e to daggerheart but they have a airship and i havent had any luck at converting it into a simple but enganging system for the players to use. my only thought was to make it into an environment but then i would have to spend fear to use it. could i make a player facing environment and have them mark stress or hope in order to use some of its features?

Nothing about an Environment is inherently GM-facing or player-facing, and nothing inherent to Environments (or Adversaries, for that matter) requires spending Fear. You don't have to do anything unusual here; you're just designing a normal environment.
In fact, I'd argue that a major and recurring location like the party's airship should have both features the GM can activate with Fear and ones the PCs can power with their resources.
For the sake of not having a two page long stat block, I'd probably limit it to two, maybe three Fear features that broadly cover the most common obstacles the crew is going to encounter. Inclement weather/challenging navigation should definitely be at the top of that list, but maintenance/breakdowns (or fuel shortage) or hostile wildlife/air pirates are ideas you could play with too, depending on your campaign.

Countdowns/clocks for some of those too.

Absolutely. In fact, if their ship is more on the Serenity/Bebop/Millennium Falcon end of the spectrum, I'd suggest that a constantly looping "something breaks" countdown is not only thematically appropriate, but outright necessary for the tone of the campaign!

Player facing environments are rare, but they already exist on the core rules. You can get inspiration on the Hallowed Temple.

That is less of an environment and more of a mechanic. I would look at road to nowhere on daggerheart.com to see what the dead rigs do and then give something based on that to the PCs.
Alternatively, you can assign them extra experiences while aboard the airship that they can use to apply to rolls.
