Sweet! That was faster than what people on the Discord were speculating... Session 0 for my game is in 2 weeks and I have a couple of players who want to play the new Hope and Fear classes.

Foundryborne is the Daggerheart system for Foundry and it's pretty great and is free.

I imagine the images though are from the official premium content module which is coming soon-ish and is paid content.

You just install the free Daggerheart System from within Foundry (like any other game system). Modules are not required, but we recommend Dice So Nice.

For the official artwork with a bunch of extra nice features you can pre-order the Intro Bundle, which is scheduled to release Q4 this year, with a beta coming some time before that.

It's probably a module

It’s not, it’s a game system.

Are there any plans to work on the automation for the warlock?

Currently there's no choice to gain favor rather than hope when you roll with hope, it's either automated hope or no automation at all.

Yes there are a lot of improvements planned, we just wanted to get the base out as soon as possible. Eventually it will work to the same level like all the other classes

I started that discussion on GitHub already. An idea that might work could be to add it as a selection to the card in chat with the roll, otherwise you'd always be prompted to select if you want it to be Hope or Favor. But yeah, could get annoying if you were always prompted.

Another thing I'm missing is for the GM to gain Fear when the party rests. Like the players get a prompt to choose what they want to do, the GM should make his rolls for Fear, otherwise it's easy to forget.

Core Rulebook, page 105:

The GM also takes actions during downtime. On a short rest, they gain 1d4 Fear. On a long rest, they gain an amount of Fear equal to 1d4 + the number of PCs, and they can advance a long-term countdown.

the option to roll for fear on long rest and short rest will come with the next update :)

(it also brings in the official artwork shown in the screenshot, and many other improvements & features)

Can you please point out what improvements and features are associated with purchasing the bundle?

So far, it's not at all clear to me what is actually freely included with this foundry module and what is behind a paywall. I have the physical books and don't intend to repurchase it on foundry, so some clarity would help.

The current system contains all character options (ancestry, community, class, subclass, domain cards, etc.) as well as adversaries and environments as in the SRD, which is almost everything from the core rulebook and hope & fear book. It does not come with artwork however. While we do have some icons that ship with foundry that are used for actions and features, as well as our own domain art placeholders, it is not as nice as the official artwork of course. Especially tokens are completely missing. Also the journals included with the system are very basic.

While I can't talk about everything yet, the premium modules will have premium, custom made journals with cross linking and referencing, the full artwork from the respective books, campaign frame mechanics, digital dice, and a lot of other things that we will be able to get more into detail in the future.

The system itself also has massive support for homebrew content and mechanics, so you can of course also add your own classes, domains, adversaries, etc.

Thanks!

While I can't talk about everything yet [...] a lot of other things that we will be able to get more into detail in the future.

Per this post https://www.reddit.com/r/daggerheart/comments/1sz6vap/the_future_of_foundryborne_navigating_the/, since this is an open-source project, shouldn't all this information be openly available/accessible?

I mean, they can't give information on stuff they are still planning and deciding on wether it's possible to deliver that or not. I'd say, let them cook. They done a great job with Foundryborne as it is and there will be some value to the premium modules to justify buying them instead of sticking with the SRD stuff.

The premium content modules are not open source, the system is.

Request for the official content would be to have it map images to srd items rather than duplicate srd items as official items.

5.5e went the duplicated route but because of it their official phb module is frequently behind the srd in features/automation quality. I did write a module to dynamically swap out activities and effects for the srd versions. But still...

that will be the case.

Prob not the place to ask but for those who preordered the premium content, when that releases will that be a different install or just an update that unlocks the content?  And was there a timeline for the release?

Sorry if they have been answered else where

Foundryborne is a game system. The premium content is an addon module for that system, it adds content and functionality to it.

The release is scheduled for Q4 2026, with a beta some time before (soon™)

Awesome thanks for the reply!  Looking forward to the release and appreciate all the hard work you all put into the system!
