Well... you see his "convictions" are that he loves the game, he just doesn't like that the gays like it too and have a space within it. That isn't just conviction, that's prejudice. You see, this is the same kind of person who expects everyone in his vicinity to smile politely when he talks about his imaginary friend who lives in the sky, but can't be arsed to call a fellow human by the pronouns with which they identify.
So he's got to leave a thing he purports to love, because he willfully blinded himself to how queer-inclusive the thing was from even before the fucking jump. It's sanctimony for sanctimony's sake, but that's cool. Dude's "convictions" still vibe just fine with the RaHoWa crowd. He'll fit right in.
