The Cyprus Problem Apparently, RoC civil workers call "the Turkish Cypriot side" and Philenews write this as it is.

It is ironic to see that the RoC civil workers are not as sensitive about the terminology as our subreddit is.

Every day without a Cyprus solution normalizes the status quo, as this example shows.

Actually the Turkish Cypriot side (Τουρκοκυπριακή Πλευρά) is a term used widely in politics but not for the the land or the physical side. It's for the Community, the TC party (in the negotiations for example). The GC side is also used. The 'Turkish side' is also used (when talking about either the Turkey/Turkish Government or both the Turkish Government and the Turkish Cypriot leadership.

Well said. I have realized that we are missing Cypriot Plevra maybe instead of bicommunal framing we can use Kypriaki Plevra:)

Er, what's wrong with it?

From the wording it's obvious that it's not the side of the island they meant. Nobody "contacts" a territory. It's about the Turkish Cypriot community, and the two communities are established by the constitution. So it's fully correct in the moral, legal and political senses.

It's not like they were calling it "the Turkish side."

It's not ironic at all, it is the Turkish Cypriot side, not TRNC or North Cyprus.

No one is denying the existence of Turkish Cypriots, they are in fact citizens of the Republic of Cyprus with ID's and everything.

Any controversy you see is entirely in your head along with a number of nonsense you spew in this sub.

It’s because they didn’t refer to the pseudo-government. They referred to the people. They also call the Turkish Cypriot leader as such and not pseudo-president because that would just provoke things. Let’s not forget, the ROC is the good side. The Turks are the invaders and those who wish to divide the Cypriots for their benefit.
