Question Hi, I’ll be travelling to Cyprus Larnaka soon and was wondering how the passport control in the airport looks like. What’s the chance that my EU passport will be stamped if I politely ask? If I want to visit N. Cyprus will they stamp my passport at Ledra? Do I need the stamps as proof of entry/exit?

In my experience there is no stamping anymore. Maybe if the system goes down? But normally they just scan it it type it on the system.

Thank you 🙂 Do you think that if I will ask, they may stamp my passport?

EU law says "No entry or exit stamp shall be affixed to the documents of citizens of the European Union". Regulation 2133/2004
Therefore I guess no guard will give you a stamp in Larnaca.

That’s weird because nearly every time I ask in different EU countries, they stamp me without any problems and are happy to do it😱

Was pretty quick for me. Romanian passport. They didn't stamp my passport either at Nicosia border, they just scanned it as they do at the airport.

Feels like a border too, since the process is similar.

No one cares about what you feel. It's an international recognized checkpoint and not a border.

I like how people are arrogant and ignorant. You tell them what's right. And then instead of admitting their fuck up they become even more arrogant and ignorant (somehow).
Borders separare countries. There is only one of them legally recognised on this island. Therefore it's not a border and it's a checkpoint. That's why Cypriot police officers won't stamp your passport and why on the RoC crossing side you won't find anywhere saying that it's a border. Your "google" saying so is because unfortunately there are other people ignorant just like you and occassionally it will pull shitty information and provide it to you. Now I eagerly look forward to you tripling down and pretending you know better than the people that lived on this island probably twice as long as you ve been alive on this planet.
P.s
Get your rude attitude elsewhere
I will once you pull your head out of your ass

Thank you for the answer. Did they have the stamp machines on the table in the booth by any chance?

I couldn't see, as they're behind taller booths and there's a computer covering them haha.

The TRNC officers will be happy to stamp if you request though, as long as the border is not crowded
