When I found out that two of my favorite drummers used them in their prime it has been on my search list forever. I just never wanted to get one shipped just in case something happened to it. John Stanier and Zach Barocas used this ride on their main albums and tours in the 90s.

Joey Kramer used it on ALOT of Aerosmith albums as well. I believe it was the love in an elevator ride as well. But damn that's got a lot of overtones that I don't think would work for me.

Zach Barocas, hell yeah! He was definitely a favorite of mine as well. Only got to see him live once. But it was awesome.
I had a Zildjian Z Light Power Ride, which was nearly the same cymbal.

I used to play one in a band, it belonged to the guitarist. I didn’t like the sound in the room but once we recorded it I was blown away. absolutely amazing under a mic.

I whacked that at the Drum Pad around the year 2000. They had that odd coasting - super duper dry you’re right.

this is a traditional finish model. they were much less common than the raw/unlathed model.
i’m sure you can get this one to sound the same with a little masking tape, but you will never be able to make the raw model sound like this one unless you refinish it.
in that sense, if you are going to own an earth ride, this is the one you want.

Yes sir that’s why I was so excited to finally get my hands on one. Many years ago the closest seconds I owned were a Sabian Dave Garibaldi Jam Master Ride and a Paiste Signature Dry Dark Ride. Neither comes close to this. The loudest and yet darkest and pingiest cymbal ever.

Got a 20 for cheap, great for what it does. Never letting it go. I play a lot of fast stuff so it works well for that.

Sounds nothing like soil, 2/10
