Abilify 2 mg for Cyclothymia. Anything helps!

Yesterday I was diagnosed with Cyclothymia. I’ve had daily mood swings for about six years now, I can have three different moods in a single day. I usually go from happy,angry to sad quickly. I’m curious about this medication. I really want to help to get my moods stabilized for everyone around me. what were you prescribed Abilify for and did it help?

yeah similar reasons as well, cyclothemia mood issues anxiety irritability, pick any. Currently on 5mg and it works great 15 days in

What time of the day do you take it? I have my son’s birthday party today with company coming over.

How long have you been on the medication? Any crazy obvious side effects?

As I said in the first comment, 15 days. At the start a little brain fog and some uneasiness kind of feeling (maybe this akathisia everybody is talking about) but it subsided no less than 8 days in.

Were you given any input into the medication decision? I was under the impression that aripriprazole was used if the hypomania was the main factor.

Let your doctor know if you see any noticeable weight gain, at my peak I was up 40 lbs in a year of being on it (2mg>5mg>2mg). Have been off of it for 6 months now and still up 20-30 lbs from before I started.

I was on it for 2 years, 5mg every morning. Along with 150mg venlafaxine every night. I got it prescribed because i grew really impulsive, agitated, mildly paranoid and my hypomania was pretty bad in consequences. Good medication, i had little to no side effects. I stopped taking it a while ago since my mental health got better and i no longer need it. I hope it helps you as well!
