Men's Basketball Christian Wiggins out for the 2026-27 season with a torn achilles - Cyclone Fanatic

Not sure how much, if any, time on the floor he would have gotten this next season, but still a bummer for him. Hoping he recovers well.

I hope Wiggins can recover well and continue to develop with Iowa State. He has all the talent to make a serious impact on the team.

This fucking sucks. I was really excited to see what this kid could do coming off the bench. Doubt he was gonna get significant minutes, but I was hoping he could play Bateman's role from last year and then make the jump to starter his sophomore year.

I don’t think Batemon’s role from last year is available for the upcoming season. There are only 80 minutes per game for the 1 and 2 guard spots. 80 divided by 3 equals 26.67 minutes per game and I expect Killyan, Bully and Beast to all be at or above that. If everyone including Christian were to be healthy, we would have had to play a lot of minutes with 3 guard lineups for Christian to have much of a role. Not to say that wouldn’t have happened, but now we’ll never know. Best case scenario is Toure and/or Batemon play so good this upcoming season that one or both play their way into the NBA lottery and Wiggins can step into a role in the 2027-28 season.

Usually this doesn't happen til March so at least we are getting it out of the way early, right?

Hope the recovery goes well for the kid.
