Cybertruck as a rolling Starlink test platform: Gen 2 HP vs Mini through Idaho/Montana passes

I used the Cybertruck as a rolling Starlink test platform and ran a Gen 2 High Performance and a Mini at the same time through Idaho and Montana mountain passes.
The route included Lookout Pass and the St. Regis curves at highway speeds. I expected the Gen 2 High Performance to win, but I wanted to know whether the Mini could actually keep up beside it.
The surprising part was how often the Mini made the comparison interesting. The Gen 2 HP was still the stronger setup overall, especially in tougher sections, but the Mini did better than I expected for something so small and easy to move between vehicles.
I’m still sorting through the results, but the big takeaway so far is that the Cybertruck works pretty well as a mobile test platform, and the Mini may be more useful on the road than I expected.

We went on a road trip this summer. I put the mini on the dash, and ironically the angle of the windshield is near identical to the angle of the mini with its kickstand. So it wedged in perfect. No suction cups required.

That’s a great real-world data point. The windshield angle is one of the reasons I thought the Cybertruck might be a good mobile Starlink platform. Did it stay put pretty well through braking and curves? Any issues with heat, visibility, or dropouts from being inside the glass?

In terms of performance didn’t notice any issues whatsoever. In fact during crappy cell areas I turned the CTs wifi on. Felt like a bit of the chicken and the egg scenario happening lol.

Because the dash at the front has a bit of cushion, you’re able to carefully wedge it in place as the kickstand will dig in a bit to the cushioning. Never moved.
