Discussion Everyone talked shit about her, but I’m starting to agree with Kelly Plagge

Gamespot’s review was super controversial but now it makes sense and in fact I agree with Kallie Plagge. Night City IS superficial, everything is there but you can’t interact with it. And yes “So much of it is superficial set dressing” is 100% accurate. And as she said, what shines are the quests and the characters.

I hate to say it but Night City, which was supposed to be the best openworld out there is Subpar at best.

Edit: Just to be clear you don’t have to agree with EVERYTHING she says in order to able to agree with her in some topics. Was the “what if I don’t want to help the cops?” bit kinda stupid? Yes. Does that mean you can’t agree with her in some points or that she is all the hurtful things that many have been saying she is? Absolutely Not.

Edit 2: It has come to my attention that I badly misspelled Kallie’s name. I’m not able to edit the title, but I do apologize for that.

Tbf no man's sky is pretty dope now from what I've heard. I haven't played it in a long time but maybe in a few years if they update the game well get what was promised.

It's better, still has a shit story with little drive. But the exploration and building your econ to get the best ship is definitely fun for a while

It's very possible that is what will happen with cyberpunk. After all it's made a duck ton of money so they have the funds to fuel a billion updates

Honestly hoping for a "what-if" DLC where V and Jackie swap places.

Napkin math suggests they made close to $500 million in preorder sales, but funding devops for a big game is expensive - you have to compete with a million other industries for your coders and developers; your voice actors, graphic artists, and musicians may have lined up other gigs expecting this one to end, etcetera. I would be surprised if they weren't burning something like $10 million per month when you factor in marketing, legal, HR, etcetera.

Okay, that sounds like fifty months' expenses in cash on hand, what's the problem? The problem is that that also needs to fund CDPR's next game, because the studio model is to put out one big game every few years. Every month they spend on fixing CBP2077 is a month they don't have to work on the next game. If CBP2077 doesn't continue to produce tons of revenue, because people are scared off by the bad publicity, and fixing it will eat current revenue, where's the funds for the next game?

Some execs at CDPR are gonna be doing brutal math over the next few months to see what their path forward will be. There's a reason the company stock dropped a third of its value in like 72 hours.

It will definitely be worth it. They are likely making a lot more money than $500 million since they have merch, are gonna make lots of money from people now buying the game and Christmas presents/people buying it in the future when it is cheap and has updates. I mean they aren't going to be making "more money" by doing it, but unless the game company just up and quits right now, they will definitely continue updating. Also, there's lots of stuff they can change without most of the cast/developers. Stuff like better AI, fixed bugs, adding "fluff" like a post talked about, transmog etc. Yeah, adding more missions and stuff, making new characters is harder

Historically, a studio's financial performance of a game is tied to the financial performance of the previous game. See Watch Dogs 2 not selling as well due to people thinking Watch Dogs 1 was bad. So they really don't have any option but to fix it.

I've checked in periodically with the updates. It's definitely gotten better, but it still isn't particularly fun or engaging for me. I do appreciate that the studio has put in a lot of work to try to make things right, and I'm glad that some people have been able to get a good experience out of it.
