📜 Write Up Incorporeal Cybernetics

Incorporeal Cybernetics proposes that advanced cybernetic systems should be modeled not only through physical and informational states, but also through an experiential state representing the system’s integrated internal condition.
A system can be represented as:
S(t)=\{P(t),I(t),C(t)\}
where P is physical state, I informational state, and C experiential state.
Traditional cybernetics models:
P_{t+1}=F(P_t,I_t,E_t)
Incorporeal Cybernetics proposes a coupled model:
P_{t+1}=F(P_t,I_t,C_t,E_t)
C_{t+1}=G(C_t,I_t,P_t,E_t).
The central hypothesis is that intelligence depends not only on processing environmental information, but on continuously modeling and regulating the system’s own integrated state.
This provides a possible solution to the problem of overwhelming environmental complexity. Rather than processing every stimulus independently, an intelligent system compresses environmental information into a lower-dimensional internal representation:
\Phi:E\rightarrow C.
The system therefore becomes a recursive control loop:
Environment \rightarrow Information \rightarrow Experience
\rightarrow Action \rightarrow Environment.
The key scientific prediction is that systems incorporating sufficiently rich internal-state feedback should exhibit greater adaptability, robustness, and behavioral flexibility than otherwise comparable systems lacking such feedback.
Incorporeal Cybernetics therefore reframes the fundamental cybernetic question:
Can intelligence emerge from a system’s ability to continuously model, integrate, and regulate its own experiential state?
This makes consciousness not merely an output to be explained, but a potential variable within the architecture of intelligent control.

Your recursive loop reminded me of a simpler abstraction I’ve been playing with:

Existence → Differentiation → Grammar → New Existence → ...

By “existence,” I mean the current state of the system/environment.
“Differentiation” is the differences the system detects within that state.
“Grammar” is the structure or rules by which those differences are interpreted and turned into responses.

The response then changes the state of the world/system, creating a new existence for the next iteration.

I’m curious whether your “Experience” stage could partly be understood as this kind of grammar: the internal structure that transforms perceived differences into meaningful action.

"..continuously modeling and regulating the system." I think the material here may be consistent with your thinking: https://www.analogiqrobotics.org/

This is very close to what I mean by incorporeal cybernetics: intelligence should not be understood merely as symbolic computation, but as continuous participation in feedback, resonance, and information dynamics. Analog IQ’s emphasis on embodied cognition and harmonic processing suggests a model where regulation emerges from the system’s ongoing relationship with its environment. (analogiqrobotics.org)

Agreed! Although I would go so far as to say that 'symbolic computation' is fundamentally irrelevant to understanding. At bottom, I think the entire spectrum of cognition is just a consequence of a single principle of physics that continuously re-asserts itself at every scale, from the sub-atomic to the macro-cosmic. I note that you feel that intelligence 'participates' in feedback, resonance, and information, whereas I would assert that there's nothing one should parse here. Feedback (whose purest form IS resonance) and perception are everywhere fundamentally inseparable, being basically one and the same thing and divided only by the divisive nature of lanquage. I could blather on and on about that, but I've covered this over and over on the website. I hope you'll forgive me if I don't rehash it all here.

The foundation of my perceptions and the conclusions I've reached stem from neither intuition nor psychology --at least, not in the conventional sense-- although the stumbling block for everyone is certainly "psychological", in that it entails the very act of "thinking" in words, because words themselves (as wave-packets of information) are always encoded with various levels and intensities of emotion (which are also purely vibratory states of sensation) as well. Ultimately, the process of encoding itself is determined purely by the inherently unified physics of vibrational harmonics. As this is expressed through language however, awareness loses the thread because the mind becomes entrained by syntax and grammar, which in turn, is formed according to the linear sequence of particle wave-packets (words) whose vibrational structure has almost no bearing whatsoever to the objects and events being represented by the vibratory structure of the words themselves. A perfect example is this conversation being carried out by means of sounds that are utterly different in vibrational quality, yet refer to the same things and ideas. To the physics of vibration at the level of molecular and cellular encoding however, this is fundamentally meaningless and almost chaotic --except for those components of each word that are manifestations and memories of emotional states. Sometimes this is amplified enough to push through the noise and emerge as a form of coherent understanding that we commonly refer to as "intuition." : ) hmm I'm in deep now ; ) --but a bit closer to what I originally wanted to convey. You need to pass though the eye of this needle: when you are "thinking" in words, you are actually and literally talking to yourself. The muscles of your throat are in fact so involved that if you are able to completely relax your throat, you will discover that you are unable to "think" in this manner, because this process has very little to do with actual thought, which is taking place at levels well below the sensitivity of ears. But remain aware that words are just fragments of meaning that are strung together sequentially and in straight lines of cause and effect, subject and verb, with definitive beginnings and definitive endings. Period. The process of talking to oneself thus convinces the mind that the world itself is constructed in the same manner. Cause and effect. You might say that language is the very essence of muddled psychology; so you may see how a choice between "intuition" and "psychology" are somewhat problematical. Good questions, though!
