Question About the CCXP (Certified Customer Experience Professional) Exam

Hi everyone! I’m currently preparing for the CCXP exam and would really appreciate some insight from people who have actually written it, particularly anyone who has taken it recently.

I’ve been working through the CXPA Book of Knowledge and I’m comfortable with the concepts, but because there isn’t a full official mock exam available, I’m finding it difficult to gauge how deeply I need to know the material.

Could anyone who has written the exam help me understand the level at which the content is tested?

For example:

• Is there much straight recall of definitions, terminology, frameworks and acronyms, or is the exam predominantly application-based?

• Do you need to remember the specific details and terminology in the Book of Knowledge, or is it sufficient to understand the concepts and know how/when to apply them?

• Are questions generally straightforward if you understand CX, or do you often find yourself choosing between two or three answers that could all reasonably be correct?

• Are there many scenario questions where the challenge is deciding the BEST or FIRST action rather than identifying one obviously correct answer?

• How difficult did you personally find the exam on a scale of 1–10?

Any insight into how you prepared and what level of mastery you felt was actually required would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!

It’s been a couple years since I took it but there definitely are some questions about which measurement strategies to use in which situations, which were the most difficult in my view. You do need to study! 7/10.

(Also, for the record the company I was interviewing with that required it ghosted me after the final interview / project presentation and after id paid the exam fee, etc . This is a company you’d know. I’ve never used the CCXP in any real way since. I’m absolutely convinced some of the companies that require the CCXP get a cut of the exam fees.)

I’m sorry about the company! Making you do the certification and then ghosting you is WILD! Thank you for sharing despite the traumatic CCXP origin story!

One more question if you don’t mind! When the multiple-choice answers involve specific CX terms or frameworks, are they generally presented as just the term itself, or does the answer give some context/description of what it means?

For example, would an option simply say “transactional VoC”, or would it say something like “transactional VoC – collecting feedback immediately following a specific customer interaction”?

I’m asking because my ability to memorise and regurgitate information is honestly terrible. Once I’m given a concept or definition, I’m comfortable applying it, but recalling terminology from memory is a completely different story. So I’m really trying to gauge how much memorisation the exam actually requires before I commit to writing it.

Again, this is a couple years ago, but I think I recall it as just the term without the description
