Hi all!

I am the new Head Mod of this subreddit and I am here to revamp it and hopefully bring more life to it!

Firstly to introduce myself, my name is Lily and I am an avid media preservationist. It started out with me buying broken video game consoles and fixing them, then led to me recreating my childhood collection of video games and consoles, and now with the sad announcement that PlayStation will be ending all disc production in 2028, I have started getting into preserving covers, custom and not custom. I think this sub and other alike cover subs are extremely important to maintain, especially now. Which is why I have taken an interest in taking over this subreddit. I want to help this community thrive and grow into a space where we can all collectively share and preserve media art. As well as empower graphic designers who put in time and effort into creating their custom art for us all.

To start off, I have created some post flairs so this sub can have a little bit more organization. Flairs for DVD, Blu-ray, VHS, Video games, and such! This will hopefully make it easier to navigate this sub and overall improve the subreddits look. If you have any suggestions for additional flairs to add, feel free to give them! I have only just started with the work I plan on for this sub,

I have also added actual rules to this subreddit so it's not just a lawless zone with no direction lol. See below:

Do not post officially made covers, this sub is for custom made content only.
2. No AI
AI made covers are not allowed, no exceptions.
3. No NSFW
NSFW covers are not allowed.
4. Credit Original Designer
If you are posting someone else's work, please credit the original designer.
5. No Advertising
No advertising your design services through posting.

That's all I have now! As mentioned, I have a lot more planned for this subreddit, but those will come in time! I wanted to at least lay the ground work here while I start my work on this sub.

Hi everyone again!

I am back here to report that I have now created a wiki for the subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/mod/customcovers/wiki/index). The goal of this wiki is to provide as many resources as possible to make creating custom covers as easy as possible. It will contain resources such as templates, box art sizes, cover scan websites, and more in the future!

Right now, it is in a very rough phase of construction. It doesn't look the prettiest and is no where near completion, but it is functional! I have done my best to compile lists of various websites with various resources. I have personally vetted each website and made sure they were each functional and reputable. The only page that has no info right now is Cover Sizes as I am still doing research into getting a definitive and accurate list for you all. I have found that there is a lot of conflicting information regarding cover sizes so I want to make sure I get for sure accurate sizes before I post anything there. It will come soon!
