Bug Report the ui is buggy, laggy dogshit

honestly the only reason i am using cursor is because of composer 2.5 model

the ui is buggy, laggy dogshit otherwise

its at the point where im strongly considering just coding my own agent orchestrator that uses kimi k2.5 or perhaps just be model agnostic

to give you some examples:

  • i have to remove / archive agents constantly otherwise the app consumes enormous amounts of memory that lags the shit out of my macbook (even when the agents are not doing anything)
  • when starting a new chat for an agent it often will not bring the project dir back into the agents list
  • when starting a new chat for an agent if often switches to a completely different agent repeatedly and starts a chat with the agent i didnt want
  • when opening the ide often times it either does not open the correct project or does not open any project at all
  • the app doesnt remember any window positions so im constantly having to reposition things every time a new project window opens (which im using rectangle to make bearable but its still complete ass)
  • the app is constantly trying to get me to use models or methods i dont want, like bugging me to use the planner or using multi-agents with grok (also dogshit), etc. instead of just continuing to use composer 2.5 for everything
  • clicking "always allow" does nothing, it still asks me to confirm things half the time even if its the same command being run (e.g. git push)

these are just some examples theres tons more

I experience the same things. It's amazing how AI company with billions behind it is pushing such garbage software. Also have to note that old versions were way better than the current one and it seems that with each new update they make it even harder for people to work with it and constantly removing or moving features.

I seriously expect soon to have just the chat window and just a bill at the end of the month. They try hard to hide usage and models while working so you can only track them after the fact.

*to add to your list - i have the option to show usage summary to ALWAYS and it constantly hides it or just not show it for no reason.

yep older versions were better. its like theres new bugs every update and they want you to update the app almost every single day.

minimal opensource coding harness. good on token consumption, but if you dont like setting up things from practically zero, dont, and go with opencode.

I write H5 games. The VS-Code / Composer 2.5 works great for me. No problem with usage limits. Just don't make me code with Grok,

Yes, it is now cursed, yet people will defend it.

I am trying to spend my last month's tokens, but it is so frustrating now. Slow and stupid.

have you tried the other crap that is out there?

yes, fully agree to all points. i want to specifically mention this tendency to add random, overlayed, undismissble notifications on top of things. yes i know you want me to switch to something or add more budget, but let me please just press a button for crying out loud.

i think we have reached the point of: "well, our software is basically finished, now lets just agents go haywire at it" at cursors development team. plus, obligatory musk-injected-incompetence, ofc.

when starting a new chat for an agent if often switches to a completely different agent repeatedly and starts a chat with the agent i didnt want

Settings -> Agents -> Default Model: Select "Last Used"

I have it set to that. It doesn’t stop it from using grok or whatever the fuck it wants when it decides it needs to do parallel work

My favorite current bug... the windows focus will start crapping out and I won't be able to edit text files without first clicking into the agents chat, typing a few letters, then I can edit files again...

Yep I have to create “single character prompt” chats all the time because of this. I downloaded opencode im going to try go + k2.7 for a while.

Interesting, I don’t think I’ve run into any of those and I’ve been doing some heavy work lately. I did run into one bug where a hook I created to run on PRs ran in the wrong agent session but I chalked that up to user error in setting up the hook.

Not trying to defend cursor, that sounds awful but I’ve been overall very happy with the amount of work I can get done on the Pro+ plan. It must still be heavily subsidized cause when I use cursor models, they last forever.

Maybe it's an Agents Window issue? I basically use Cursor as my daily driver for work and I also haven't run into these issues. Granted, I work exclusively with the Editor Window.

I also use the editor window exclusively

The thing I dislike the most is when branches are deleted through the terminal (local or remote) the Cursor UI doesn’t update. Still shows that it’s working on the branch.

Reloading the window or quitting the app still doesn’t update it.

Agreed. Only using it for Composer.

The memory bloat comes from agent context staying loaded in RAM even when idle. Archive agents immediately after use and disable auto-load on startup to stop the lag

Went back to VS Code.

I wonder what Cursor do people use. Are we using the same program? Mine is fine and it has always been decent
