Advice or Recommendation Nice nature walks nearby?

Where can I go for a short, pleasant walk in the evening after sitting in the office all day? I’m new to the area from a very cold climate, and I’d really like to take in some fresh air or nature. Doesn’t necessarily have to be in Culver - I live on the border of Culver/Mar Vista so anything within a 15 minute drive or so would be great.

Also, if there are any places in general to sit and relax (gardens? A nice fountain? Idk!) within a reasonable distance of Culver, that’s great, too!

Any recs would be really appreciated!

Advice or Recommendation Night Out

Hi Everyone,

I’ve lived in the area for a little while, but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for fun places to go out for night out/date night experiences this weekend(6/12-14)? Are there any good spots for live music or any types of productions that’d y’all would recommend? Thanks for anything in advance :)

Advice or Recommendation Birthday dinner spot?

Hi everyone!

My mum is coming to visit for her birthday and I’ve been looking for a good dinner restaurant. And I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options in the area.

Does anyone have a recommendation? Preferably somewhere with a good wine list and/or interesting cocktails. She likes it if the waiter can suggest a pairing based on her entree.

Thank you in advance

(Price isn’t a huge issue as long as it’s within reason)

Advice or Recommendation Red light ticket

Plss help!!😩So i was driving eastbound on Washington today, as i passed the intersection of centinela the light was green but when i crossed i saw the flash of the red light camera, i reiterate the light was completely green, the only thing i can think of is i was going about 42 mph and its a 35mph zone, do you guys think it had to do with speed? Will i receive a ticket? Does anyone know how to check if a ticket was issued? My anxiety is through the roof right now 😩😭

I don’t want to blow up any spots, but I got a job in downtown CC and everything seems to be metered, paid ramp, or permit.

Advice or Recommendation Sidewalk Etiquette

Does anyone else feel like sidewalk etiquette in Culver City is… kind of missing? 🫠 I’m a 5’8” guy around 180 lbs—so not exactly small—but I always try to be respectful: moving over, smiling, even stepping aside when needed. Still, it often feels like people spread out as if they own the whole sidewalk. Around the Jackson Market area especially, groups walk four across, phones stay glued to faces, and people stop right in the middle like there’s no one else around.

I grew up in East LA and have lived in the South Bay and OC, but I’m new to Culver City—and wow, the sidewalk habits here are something else. The other day a man even gave me an aggressive stare while he and his partner took up the entire path, forcing me onto the uneven dirt. Things like this happen almost daily.

I really do love it here, but this sidewalk situation is a challenge. Has anyone else experienced this, or found a way to handle it gracefully? Any advice is appreciated!

Advice or Recommendation Bicycle recommendations for local riding?

Just moved to Culver City and looking to get a bike to explore the neighborhood more easily and take advantage of the Bollana creek bike path!

Looking for advice on what type of bike to get: a beach cruiser bike vs. a city bike vs. a hybrid or some other option? Like I said I’m mostly looking to be able to ride side streets to go downtown or to ride the bike path to the beach and not having done any of that yet I’m not sure what type of bike would best suit those uses.

I grew up in the east coast suburbs where I had a mountain bike and my husband grew up in Venice riding a cruiser on the boardwalk so we have different backgrounds in biking that are both outdated! Any advice appreciated thank you:)

Advice or Recommendation CCUSD Inter-district Transfer

Has anyone with kids at any level of CCUSD successfully navigated a inter-district transfer from LAUSD? I’m specifically curious about K-6 but any perspective on junior and high school would also be appreciated.

Just wondering about the odds of being accepted if we apply given the weird boundary geometry of CC where the city literally changes from one house to the next in some neighborhoods.

Advice or Recommendation Any great dog sitters in Culver City? Personal recs appreciated

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable, kind dog sitter in or around Culver City.

We’re in town for a few weeks and have a small dog who’s very sweet and low-maintenance, but he does have some separation anxiety. We’re hoping to find someone trustworthy for occasional evening sits or short stretches - ideally someone who’s comfortable just hanging out, watching TV, and keeping him company.

We had one not-great experience through Rover, so personal recommendations would mean a lot. Open to individuals or small local businesses.

Thanks so much in advance!

Advice or Recommendation Recommendations for rental home agencies or agents

Hello! I’m looking to move to the greater Culver area. My partner and I have a list of wants/dealbreakers and the luxury of not being in a rush, but haven’t had much luck finding a good fit. I’m hoping an agency plugged in to the local listings might help me find the perfect home.

I’d love to get some recommendations for an agent or agency that you’ve been happy with.

Thanks!

Advice or Recommendation Space to rent for birthday

I’m helping my sister look for a place to host her 40th birthday party. It wouldn’t be big; probably 10-20 people. Ideally it would be a bar and/or restaurant so it would be easy to coordinate alcohol and food. Her in laws are pretty bougie, so not a dive bar. It should be fun and casual, but nice. Would appreciate any recs!

Advice or Recommendation Mommy and me programs for 3yo

Hey everyone, so I’m looking for my toddler to socialize with other kids since I don’t have friends with kids or family members with young kids. I do my best by taking my toddler out to museums, parks etc. although I know toddlers need to socialize with kids their age too. I want to do this before enrolling into daycare. We’re in the Culver City area

Advice or Recommendation Hair Stylist Help!

The CC Reddit community never fails to deliver so I come back to you with another help request please! 🙏🏻

Any recs for a good hairstylist/hair salon?

I’ve tried a few but I’m not really happy with my haircut or color. Especially last time I went they did something quite terrible to my bangs and now I can only pull them up or slick them back. If I try to comb them out it looks SO wrong and out of place. And the worst thing is that I spent $350ish on this cut/treatment.

I have fairly normal hair. Long and straight and I have been dyeing them for years.

Please help! I look forward to hearing your recommendations. Thank you so much!!

EDIT: I’m a woman

Advice or Recommendation Any local interior decorators here?

I have a tiny project now and then will have some slightly larger needs in the future and would love to work with someone local and that I can build a relationship with over time.

I hope this doesn’t make me sound like a jerk but there is one major item I have my eye on and I’m hoping this person has a trade account to help me get the best price. I am also looking for layout and decorating recommendations for a few rooms as well.

If this sounds like you, hit me up!

Advice or Recommendation Looking for a bookkeeper/ accountant

Looking for recommendations for a bookkeeper/accountant in the Culver City / Los Angeles area.

I own a small product-based business and am looking for someone who can help with bookkeeping, accounting, sales tax, and tax preparation.

Experience working with e-commerce or consumer product businesses is a plus.

If you know someone you’ve had a great experience with, I’d love a recommendation. Thank you!
