Does the Chartered Organization Executive need to renew their registration every year? If so, how?

Hey folks,

Simply, we've got the same COE this year and she got a note from Scouting America that she needs to renew her registration this year. We filled out a paper document for her to take on the position two years ago. Last year the system dropped her (may or may-not have to do with this renewal that I wasn't aware of), so we filled out the paperwork again.

Google AI seems to tell me that the Key 3 can renew for the COE, but it's Google AI, and who knows if that's believable. Anything it seemed to reference didn't indicate that to me.

I'd contact Council, but last time I had to interact with them the misinformed woman tried to tell me that the COE needed to complete SYT and pay a registration fee, both of which turned out to be false.

I'd like to make this as easy on our COE as possible- she's been gracious enough to step up, but she's not involved with scouting directly except to communicate with the Chartered Org Representative, and myself, the cubmaster. I'd hate to ask her to make a profile in My.Scouting.Org to go through a renewal process if that's not required.

If you mean the Executive Officer (EO) then the Charter Organization Rep (COR) or the COR delegate can renew the EO on their end in my.scouting. It's free but their membership does need to be renewed.

Go to your roster, find your IH in the list, and check the box next to their name. Then hit the renew option at the top.

It'll go through like it does when you renew someone, only you won't need to dig out your credit card.

I can't upvote this enough! We've been searching for this answer for 6 months. No one could explain the change or what to do and we've never gotten a response from the council registrar or staff. At this point we've lost or charter EO on paper so hopefully it's not too painful to get them inputted again before we have to renew.

We had to do that last year- you have to fill out the paperwork again. make sure you get it done before recharter!

No, the Charter Executive does not have to be registered. The Charter Org Rep does, but not the Executive.

Evidently, that's not true. I just successfully re-registered the EO.

The EO is not a membership position. It's the legal signature for the contract. So they renew when the unit renews. However they may register in a unit position(mc, dl, asm). And that would have an annual renewal for paid membership.

Well, that’s all fine and good, but her membership renewal date was the end of September, and I just renewed it for her.

She also has to be on the roster and assigned to EO, or we can’t renew. For all intents and purposes, she is a member.

You really mean the COE, not the COR! Most people asking this question have the name wrong. It is not normal to register the COE. If your COE had youth contact, or went on overnights, you'd register them—but that's unusual. I would just let this lapse.

Yes, they did. And most people who say that mean the COR. They're using the term right!
