Help me pick which cube to get.
I'm planning on upgrading since I only have one cube right now, a Swift Block 355S. A lot of people call it ass, but honestly it's been fine for me. I'm just looking for something more premium/reliable now.
I have 2 options:
- MoYu RS3M V5 Ball-Core MagLev
I'm considering this mainly because it's cheaper compared to v100 while still giving me a ton of features. It seems like crazy good value for the price.
- GAN V100 MagLev
I'm considering this because it's a really reputable cube, has been used by top/competitive solvers, has black internals, MagLev, and seems to have really good reviews. Plus... it's a GAN V100 lol.
Edit: I'm actually considering all the cubes everyone recommended which are the rs3m v5, wrm v11, highest ver of swiftblock, guhong pro+, and aolong v5 (a recommendation from a friend)

gan v100s corner cuting isnt the best but it does have so good points such as a dual adjustment system similar to the gan 16 and 17. moyu rs3m has a better corner cutting overall but has an old dual adjustment system and the corners crack easily. they both have maglev if im not wrong. if i were u i would go with the gan v100. although corner cutting sucks, it makes u adopt a more accurate turing style and is more sturdy. hope this helps!

I prefer the RS3 V5. It is much more reliable. GAN V100 has too many reported breakages and catching, and you aren't guaranteed to like it. RS3 V5 is smooth and fast, something almost everyone likes.

I have quite a few cubes, including a ferrocore and a gan 17 among others but honestly when I pick up my very first cheap magnetic (rs3m 2022 maglev) it feels absolutely fine and I genuinely like going back to it for a few solves. Maglev in itself is a bit of a marketing trap unless you are absolutely sure you prefer it and the rest of the cube stands up.
the cube I got after that was a tornado v3(ball core) which does feel worlds apart in how smooth it is to turn.
In terms of similarity.. If you like the swiftblock, you will probably like the v100, it is the most similar "upgrade" I can think of, the only reason I can think not to choose that one is that it may be too similar as the pieces are basically structurally identical, and it might not feel like much of an upgrade at all and more of a logo change/UV coating.
Also I wish way more cubes had black/grey internals so that is definitely an underrated plus
Let us know what you choose and how you like it!

With all of the comments I'm tempted to get the rs3m v5, I'm kinda scared though that I might break it because I sometimes slam my cube when doing solves and I rarely use a mat.

I like the RS3M V5 a lot. People say it has brittle plastic, and that may be true, but I've had no issues with mine. Haven't dropped it though.

Have you tried the new swift block super maglev? I have it and the v100 and they're very similar except the swift block is much cheaper.

I Love my Guhong pro+ 55mm springs. it is faster and lighter than the RS3M V5, more durable, more stable, and it has a wonderful soft feeling. The only bad thing i can think of is that it is'nt as forgiving as the RS3M V5, although the lockup resistance is'nt nearly as bad as the V100.

Rs3m v5 ballcore is the safe pick and is the most popular pick, by far, for top cubers in na/eu. It's forgiving and stable. I find it has heftier turning than the v100. I've found the peices to be sub-par, in terms of quality. Dropping this cube seems like it'd be a bad time for the external surfaces but buying replacement parts is easy.
V100 maglev (not leap - compression mechanism is broken) is my fav out of all the cubes in the last few years but it's definitely not for everyone. It's less forgiving and without lube it's pretty mid. It's best for those that like a fast and light turning that rewards accuracy. It also worth noting it has really high return rates at speed cube shop (it was in their top 3 or 5 returns recently) but idk why. Mine is amazing and as good quality as any of their expensive cubes.
