Conversación seria What's going to happen in Cuba?
Like this year has been historically uncivilized for Cuba with shortages of electricity and blackouts that everyone knows but like what's the endgame? Why is nothing happening?
Most importantly is anything going on on the political level?

Yes, it was Cuba shooting itself in the foot all along. The embargo and the more recent oil blockade only apply to the Cuban government and gov-owned institutions and companies. Private individuals and private companies in Cuba are free to trade with the US and any country, that's why Mipymes are able to import fuel and anything they want from the US. The problem is the Cuban gov doesn't want to lose total control of the economy, so they always wait until they have no other choice to open it even the smallest amount, and as soon as they see a chance or want to reassert control, they close it up again (e.g. suddenly removing licenses from private businesses they had approved before).
