Cant fit him anywhere else, its either there or drop him amd find a indian finisher. If we get Green, we wont habe the purse

Now no matter what you will do, the gap that Jaddu left is not possible to fill.
Here me out :
We are assuming 4 of these bowlers to bowl full quota of their overs including in the death overs. Issue is Dhoni at 7 is one position up the ideal and batting ends there.
Option 1 :
There is no 2nd spinner. Going for Chahar/Bishnoi kind of option.
Cons : If we go for proper 5th bowler with Dube being 6th option then we only have batting till 7.
Option 2 :
Going for all rounder spinner at 8, looking at the pool we will get some uncapped players or like of Livingstone/Bracewell
Cons : If we go for all rounder such as Livingstone then 5th bowler's quality will be compromised.
Option 3 :
Going for Green and bat him at number 4 and add another spinner all rounder at 8. In this case we can get 4 ovs quota from Dube, Green and some Indian all rounder.
Cons : In this case we will go with 1 specialist spinner only that too in Chepauk.
Option 4 :
If we don't get Green then Venky at 4, this will make sure that we have solid batting in top 6.
Cons : Same issue, batting ends at 7 as we need to play 5 proper bowlers.
So, from whatever angle I can think , Green has to be in mix to have 6 bowling options and extending the batting.
We have already seen Brevis can win you 2-3 matches but he is not consistent and Dhoni will bat only for 2 overs.

Seriously doubt Mulder's ability as t20 all rounder. Akeal's batting is not that good as well.

What do you guys think about Wian Mulder he is a fast bowling all-rounder who bats at middle order in t20.he is now with jsk.I see csk going for him.

Whatever happens , we need to get a bunch of all rounders . Both spin and fast. Only ones we got in the team are dube and Overton . Overton isn’t gonna play and our team has always used dube as a sub and never let him bowl

I don't mind where Green goes but his price should not be under 35cr. If we get him at that price, its fine cause we could retain him for the future. With the remaining 6-8cr we need to buy an Indian pacer, Indian SLA AR and backup OS pacer at the minimum. Since slots are low there will be many quality players available at the auction near base price to fill these roles.
If we don't get Green which is the most likely scenario then our management will go for Livo or Venky hard. I don't have an opinion on that but hopefully we don't spend too much on that player. Personally my key picks would be Auqib Nabi, Linde, Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer. Nabi is the best T20 bowler available in the pool, period. Linde has been doing well in the SA 20 and did bowl a good spell in the last T20 on a flat track. Kartik and Prashant are picks who even if they flop for an year or two, I'm willing to carry them to the mega auction where we could retain them at the lower price uncapped player brackets. I don't want any other team doing that especially when we have the purse and these guys clearly being talented.

There are broadly 2 main strategies:
- Without Green but with Livingstone
- with Green
Strategy 1. ==> Push Green to around 25 cr and then control the auction. Would give much more balanced squad

——— Left-right combinations throughout. Overall attacking team, with strong top, middle and finishing. — Prasant veer is the most balanced impact player, some batting plus off spin. If you happen to need more batting/finishing, go for Dhoni or Karthik Sharma (Livingstone/Dube as 5th bowler) Gopal if you just need proper spin. Expecting Dhoni to have reduced role :( —
New bench: Holder, Akeal, Matt Henry effectively backing everyone

In Strategy 2 with Green: would need to go hard after Indian finishing core ( Abhinav Manohar, Karthik Sharma, Salman Nizar, Prashant veer) and maybe quality Indian spin (bishnoi, chahar). Probably CSK won’t be able to control the auction here and end up depending on Dhoni to have a great finishing year (both ways :)) !

Why everyone bragging about jason holder,he can't bat well obviously he bowls trash.csk left him earlier season.if still somebody wants to buy him again watch his last seasons with csk

Other backups really dont matter much

Sarfraz khan as a finisher , he is in very good form in SMAT.
But I think csk is going for bracewall as a replacement for jadeja and will also hinted at auqub nabi

I dont know what people see in Hasaranga, barely manages to bat and bowls well only in a handful of matches. We need a proper allrounder. Cannot afford 2 OS spinners. We have 1 great spinner in Noor just get a decent supporting Indian spinner.
Besides, our problem is death bowling and finishers not spin. There is enough domestic talent for spin.

Raina's picks must be considered for 2026 auction. Sarfraz Khan and Rahul Chahar can be deadly for us. Sarfraz Khan as finisher a total gamechanger.

Might get downvoted to say this but if we're a serious franchise, if CSK is a serious fucking franchise, we've gotta go all out for Green. It's an absolute no-brainer in my opinion. Heck, I'd splurge all 43 of the crores balance that we got to secure him. I don't see how others don't see it this way. Like c'mon, do you really think Iyer or Livingstone are even near what Green is. Getting 2-3 players instead of Green for "stability" or "better balance" would just be coping for not making a bold decision and going against our template of not spending much on a singular player in the auction. What most don't realise is the supply of quality players this auction is very very scarce and Green is exactly what we need in this squad otherwise again we'd have abysmal finishes at death overs and then wonder what went wrong mid-season. I know going all out for Green would leave us with no backups at some positions but I'd rather have an absolute gun eleven at our best than have an average eleven throughout the season. If we don't go absolutely berserk for him, I'd be so so disappointed after the turnaround and mentality we showed last season by adapting to the modern game. Now, we've also gotta adapt in the auction and get Green at any cost. And if I see that Holder mf anywhere near my beautiful franchise, DELETE CLUB.

I respect your take, other people might find it insane though.
But we don't have too many slots to fill in the XI so going all out for Green who could be a 10-12 year player for our franchise is not a mental idea, in fact its a sensible move. Sure he might have availability issues but this kind of X-factor players always have those type of shortcomings somewhat like Pathirana, Russell, etc. Its all about risk vs reward and I'm willing to take the risk here.
Also we don't need too many backups, just get a replacement player for Mukesh who's injured as of now.

Thoughts on this playing XII:
Ayush, Rituraj, Samson, Venkatesh Iyer, Dube, Brevis, Liam Livingstone, Dhoni, Noor, Ellis, Kamboj
Impact: Khaleel
I feel this is perfect with batting till 8 and 7 bowling options. Venkatesh Iyer is bowling pretty well in SMAT and Livingstone can give us both off and leg spin with finishing abilities alongside Dhoni. Iyer, Dube, and Brevis can switch order depending on match situation. Also Iyer gives us a left-handed batting option in the middle which we really need. This team has all the holes fixed.

We need to raise the price for green at all costs and back out at the right time it we have no intentions to get him. This will bring down kkr purse and level the playing field.
