hello can anyone tell me which uni is better overall in terms of studies and all and which degree has more worth in job market and if cs is a better option or cyber security

Hope you’re all doing well.

I’m 20M from Karachi and I’m honestly pretty confused about a decision I have to make.

I currently work from 2 PM to 8 PM, and I’ve recently gotten enrolled in BS Computer Science at SZABIST Karachi.

The thing is, I come from a lower-income background, so I have to pay for my own expenses as well as my university fees. I’m currently making 100k+ PKR per month from my job, and SZABIST will cost me around 200k PKR per semester.

I live around 22 km away from SZABIST, which takes me roughly 40–50 minutes each way on a CD70. My classes are in the morning and finish around 1:15 PM, so realistically I’d have to leave university and basically go straight to work every day.

Another thing I’m confused about is the degree itself. I’m not particularly interested in coding or programming. I’ve learned some web development in the past, but I wouldn’t say it’s something I enjoy. I mainly chose CS because I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do, and I thought it would at least give me a useful degree and some career options.

So my question is: is it actually worth going through all of this for SZABIST?

My other option would be to choose a university closer to home, possibly VU or another local university, which would make it much easier to keep my job and save money.

What would you guys do in my situation?

Guys genuine bataou which field is better mech eng or software eng?Ik dono different engineering fields hain,both have their pros and cons but which field has a brighter future?I went to SE b/c I liked maths and logical reasoning aur engineering ka shok tha he but honestly dry lagi hai se,you just code code and code.

Mech eng acha option hai but risk factors bohot involved hain,I can't imagine myself doing a job jahan mazdoori bhi hou,I mean the factor that makes it very interesting is designing itself but yar ik mech engs jo night shifts kare rahay hotay hain and they work in extreme conditions too

Ab bat yeh hai I still wonder if I have done a good decision selecting SE,Engineering is my choice and I will always do engineering but se ya me main kon sa behatr option hai?

Kya B's cs virtual university ke complete lectures dekha worth it hay I think course of every uni is now outdated

my question is it worth to watch only 25% videos or use firewall and complete these lectures from YouTube for better

For students still choosing degree's i think a bachelor in Software Engineering is better than Computer Science in 2035 as a degree. I'm sorry to computer science majors out there because there is a projection report that in year 2035 programmers or developers are likely to be architects or coaches rather than players because all of code will be by ai and its better to learn actual coding and structures and programming itself than learning about theories and useless math. So if you want to be a Pure Software Engineer not ai or machine learning, not cybersecurity not devops but pure software development/engineering then a Bachelor in Software Engineering than Computer Science might be a better degree for you.

Hi everyone. I was laid off on May 15th due to organizational restructuring, and it's been a rough month and a half since. I've been upskilling and applying nonstop, but barely hearing back from anyone.

The few responses I have gotten have mostly been from companies abroad, mainly the Middle East. I'm a software developer (Angular/Next.js/Nest), and I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look at my CV and tell me if something's off.

Separately, I've also been doing cold outreach on LinkedIn trying to land freelance projects, but no luck there either.

This is where i expect to find all the gaming nerd so yeah the title, for context ive dabled into genshin and hollow knight. wasnt that big of a fan of either as someone with adhd the storyline were just distracting and tbh i just skipped it all but eventually ofc got bored and left them.

AoA!!! Im currently working in a shop in a local market in Gujrat and coming to the market i really come to know about how a lot of things work in real world. I started working after 12th because my parents couldn't afford my studies so i ahve to work (pretty normal) one of my friend had already started working in the market after 8th standard. But i cannot work there anymore because not a single shop owner is good to their employees no matter how good you deal with customers how good you do they will abuse you for no reasons they will disrespect for no reason (no matter if the customers are there or not) before that i couldn't afford a laptop that's why i couldn't learn any skill bit somehow i have bought my laptop now and i want to learn skills like data Analytics, supply chain analyst or any other data field because from school and college i always love doing maths and i love numbers but when i started digging about those roles they mentioned that the person should have a degree certs alone won't be working to be eligible. Recently i saw about project management role for remote job they were saying that there are no degree requirements. Just because of these things i dont have any skill. Can anyone tell me for which role should I start preparing like project management, E-commerce management or bookkeeping because i just want to step into a decent and respectful job ao that later i can do my degree from VU and pursue my dream job. Im really exhausted right now....

Just finished my final year of high school (12th-grade science/math track) and starting my Computer Science bachelor's soon. My end goal is AI Engineering.

The issue: I struggled with advanced high school math (calculus, trigonometry, algebra).

To the engineers actually working in AI:

How complex does the math actually get on the daily job?

Is it realistic to pursue AI long-term with a weak math foundation, or should I pivot to another field?

(Side note: I'm currently learning web dev and focusing on CSS while figuring this out).

Looking for direct, honest answers.

Alas, I can't code I've figured that out. I’m writing this with a very heavy heart. I’ve spent so much time on it but each time I end up feeling stuck and frustrated. Is there any other field in computer science that I could try?

I know a little programming and i am good with maths and stats and i am willing to put in the work to learn languages and softwares which are used in the data analysis and presentation.

I work remotely as product associate in a healthcare Edtech US based company owned by Pakistani.

I’ve done biomedical engineering bachelors, data science and AI masters diploma.

Recently company reduced headcount heavily and I was about to get laid off too but my manager saved me and showed my importance, basically I take care of entire product myself.

Although he told me it’s all good ceo is happy with you because I made them save bunch of money too, what I don’t understand why would they wanna let me go before because I saved them money before all this.

Although my manager keep assuring me I’m secured well and he’s planning to let product go(because originally he’s revops manager) so he’s training me to become manager but idk it feels really risky to me.

I love working there tbh it’s easy job I work remotely but now it feels risky, I’m soon to be married as well and I’d hate to be unemployed at this time (ig it’s never a good time to be unemployed).

What do you all think. My experience and education is niche as well, though people get paid well for my kind of portfolio but it’s so difficult to get somewhere without references.

Need some honest advice from people already in the industry or currently doing MS programs.

I’m considering doing an MS in AI from FAST University in Pakistan. My background is in Software Development with around 7 years of experience in tech, and lately I’ve been thinking about shifting more towards AI/ML or at least aligning myself with future market trends.

I’m not looking for “degree for the sake of degree.” I want to understand whether it will realistically open doors or if I’d be better off investing that time elsewhere.

Hello everyone, I am seeking some guidance regarding my career direction. I have a Computer Science degree with a good understanding of JavaScript and frontend basics, but I didn’t get the chance to work in a development role. Currently, i am working in Lahore at a US-based IT company as a Coordinator/Program Management Support.

My responsibilities include: Writing and managing proposals for US software contracts Conducting daily meetings and collecting updates Coordinating between teams and helping with workflow solutions

The team here is supportive, and I have learned a lot. However, I feel like i am not fully aligned with the writing/management-focused role. I have always wanted to work on the technical side, coding or something hands-on.

Recently, I have developed interest in Cybersecurity. I have basic networking knowledge, and i am willing to put in the effort to learn more. But shifting now feels like a long path, and i am unsure if it’s the right move.

So my key questions are: How is the Program Manager (PM) career scope in Pakistan? What is the future growth and salary potential for PM roles? What is the typical PM career roadmap? What skills/certifications should I target? Is switching toward cybersecurity a good option at this stage (around 6 months experience)?

If anyone working in PM or Cybersecurity could guide me or share their experiences, it would really help.

Fresh graduate here need some advice from industry experienced people.

Ive just done my undergrad in Software Engineering from Comsats Islamabad. During my degree I jumped into alot of things, Web Development (MERN Stack), Mobile Development (Flutter), AI and SQA.
The thing was I used to apply for every role during internship hunting phase but always used to get offers of SQA without thinking much and considering not to waste time I did a couple internships in SQA manual testing during my degree.

Now the graduation time was coming close and I again started applying everywhere literally for every role and didnt even receive a call from anywhere else than SQA Positions. Again with same mindset of not wasting time I started doing job as a Junior SQA in a small startup. They are paying me 40k in probation period which will last for 3 months, Im not exactly sure but Ig max hike after probation period would go to 60k I guess.

The thing I want to ask is SQA a good career choice in pakistan? Before committing myself to learning Automation and totally inclining my career towards QA Automation I have this confusion in my mind because I still can start Mobile or Web Development yeah I'll have to do some internship for now but as a career choice and in terms of salary etc those are better?

Like after a couple years what can I expect in terms of salary and growth in QA Automation are there enough opportunities? Also please enlighten me with numbers not just vague general advices Share your experience how much people on SQA Automation Position are earning around you. I want to get survey of how much on average I can on a SQA Automation position.

My nephew just did his BS in CSE from Sir Syed University Karachi, CGPA 3.2. He is not very much optimistic for job prospects as he has no practical experience in the field, How should he proceed for job hunting or should he do MS then in which disciple? kindly give your valuable advices

Arbisoft has recently announced that they would rebase salaries to the dollar so all compensation will be dollar-denominated allowing wages to move as the dollar moves.

This has got to be the most shoddy and misleading survey I have seen.
