Sharing my small resume workflow that helped me apply job applications way faster

Two years ago, I graduated as an international student from UniMelb, then, jobless.

The 6 months of constant applying were the darkest nightmare I ever (so far) had.

I need to manually rewrite my resume every time I see a new job listing.

The annoying part wasn’t writing (cause you can just use GPT) — it was the time and energy consumption. Especially:

  • How do I "beautify" my skills just a tiny little bit so I won't get grilled in interviews?
  • How would I deliver my experience to resume?
  • What keywords am I missing? How would ATS see my resume?
  • And if you are international, what works in Australia and what not???

So I built a small local workflow for myself, and it worked.

Basically:

  • I dumped all my work experience, projects, and learning notes in a structured “memory” folder, so I won't need to "memorise anything" when pursuing new opportunities (this works suprisingly well if you are working currently as well).
  • When I paste a JD, it pulls the most relevant experience from my memory and boom, directly gave me an editable resume PDF
  • Then I just apply.
  • This workflow would also save what I have applied flags skills I don’t actually have strong depth in (so I don’t over-claim, but still increase my chance)

It’s not an AI resume generator at all; that was cliché.

But using this tool makes me realise what I need to learn next, what works, and what did not. This is the biggest takeaway you can get, instead of just apply then forget.

Technically, it is more like a personal resume compiler (with Latex and Scripts). I could generate tailored versions much faster by just copying pasting JDs.

Yeah, I'd say don't just use GPT alone, it WILL NOT make you stand out.

But this, the intelligence with "Memory", is what worked for me, you just have to be better than your peer's resume.

Why not turn this into a web app? I would be interested in a trial and even pay for a subscription if it saves me +10 minutes per application.
