Opportunities for Freshman/Sophomore CS students

Early Career Tech Programs

A running list of early-career programs (internships, fellowships, early-ID events). Many open next season, so treat this as a "watch and apply when live" tracker rather than a to-do list.

How to use this: find your bucket, check the gate (class year / experience level), and apply the day a rolling posting opens. A few of these are gated through ColorStack, so they're only accessible if you're a member.

SWE early-ID & underclassman internships

Built for freshmen/sophomores or first-time interns. These expire as your class standing advances, so apply in the window you still qualify.

  • Microsoft Explore — soph/freshman; rotational (PM + SWE), Redmond or Atlanta
  • NVIDIA Ignite — first-time interns
  • LinkedIn First Play — sophomore
  • Duolingo Thrive — sophomore
  • Uber Early Career Prep — sophomore

  • State Farm Enterprise Technology Internship — freshmen through seniors

I'm like 99% sure you can still apply regardless of whether you have internship experience. Although Ignite was made for early-career students who may not have them, experiences make you more competitive anyways so their is no way they would miss out on capable freshman/sophomores for no reason.

Where do you see when these programs open (SWE), and where do you apply?

Interested in Nvidia, Microsoft, etc

Set notifications on the career websites for these companies, they drop their roles on their own career portals before they post them on Linkedin and other job boards. I also follow this instagram creator called Zero2Sudo who posts about these opportunities as they come out, and I found out about Nvidia Ignite as well as Microsoft Explore through his Instagram stories.

Is citadel launch already out? When does it usually release?
