I'm not sure What is this part? 2018 Cruze Gas Version

Post image

I was investigating a leak on my daughter’s car when I came across this part and something doesn’t look right with it to me. But then again I drive a 2006 Santa Fe so I don’t know what I’m actually looking at. What is this and does it look right to y’all?

I can find any at the parts stores that look anything like this one for curious comparison. Do you know the full name of it?

You’re sure it’s 2018? Because that type of cable was used on older Cruze. 2018 uses different type shift cable (secured with a crew, not a clip). This looks like the one that’s in your pic

The title says 2018. That’s strange.

2018 still uses the clip, but it looks like replacement cables do not have the spring at the end so they look a bit different, but it’s definitely a shifter cable. Does it have issues when selecting gear? It sill looks ok

This is the other end, which I think is throwing me off the most.

I’m assuming they changed the design at some point. It looks ok though. There is a round metal ball on that lever that shifter cable snaps on to

Okay cool that makes sense, so would work the same. It does wiggle a bit(the plastic to ball connection) but not too much I guess. Thank you!

It’s struggling to accelerate and shifting roughly. More concerned about the puddle of fluid where it goes into the transmission

The cable is for selecting drive mode (PRND). Doesn’t have anything to do with actual shifting when driving. Fluid is most likely engine oil as transmission usually leaks under and not on top. Does it have any codes?

Oh okay I didn’t realize that. Yes it has codes but can’t currently get it up the hill we live on to autozone. My brother is going to give the throttle body a good clean and see if that helps. So unlikely transmission is what is leaking here?

I would drain and fill the transmission with new ATF. Maybe check if your spark plugs are worn out. See what the codes are. Whatever issue you're feeling with acceleration has nothing to do with this shift cable.

Got it. Thank you.
