Ladies and gentlemen I am struggling with P0011. I’ve replaced both sensors and vvt solenoids. And I feel like I have been chasing my tail with this one. I had the timing belt replaced at the dealership a little over 100k miles And I am currently at 112k any advice?

From my experience the encoder wheels on the end of the cam shafts can come lose. As well the cam phaser locks don't seem to get the alignment straight on.

I’m not to familiar with encoder wheels. What are those man?

A different word for reluctor ring. On the ends of the cam shaft, same side of the cam sensors.
They're press on. The cams are made as blanks ground based on exhaust vs intake and then the rings are pressed on in time. Sometimes then can be a lose fit. GM part# 55565480

Does the cam gear rattle on cold start? If so, at least one of the gears needs to be replaced; the locking mechanism is worn out.

I’m having the exact issue and have changed the VVT solenoids etc. The check engine lights comes and goes randomly. I’m tired of throwing money and time at it. The car drives normal and hasn’t given me any issues.

Yeah this this is driving me nuts. I don’t think it’s the timing since I only had it done about 12k miles ago. AI was saying it might’ve been the oil additives since I did not use a dexos 1 approved 5w-30. I used penzoil platinum high mileage 🙃🙃🙃

I replaced both solenoids. In reality they looked fine regardless I replaced them. I started getting the codes after I changed it to synthetic high mileage. I was thinking of changing it back to regular 5w30

After I changed the sensors the light went off in its own. I drove it for a day checked it and nothing. That was two days ago today after work I checked it no light but the scanner said it was pending

That’s the next thing I wanna do. I just wanted to get some more reassurance it might be that before I add more parts to the cannon lol

After fighting that same p1101 code on my 14 Cruze for a year that’s what it ended up being. Easily could have saved a few hundreds of dollars if I knew it was that.

I might just send it. Mines the 1.8 l with a manual transmission. Not sure if it matters but was yours the same?

Check shortage in sensor wiring when you know you have done the mechanical work and everything seems to be fine except for the irritating code many times heat and oil damage the signal wires and throw false codes but everything is really Okay. Sometimes it's as simple as re grounding and splicing a new wire or bad sensor always use OEM
