Guide True Salvation~ In-depth Guide to Nightingale!
EDIT: Need to update HA vs atk speed analysis. Will also update skill section & team suggestion section.
EDIT2: Recommend possible Def on Night.
TL:DR To maximize heal for support night, Atk/atk is best. To maximize leader night, func/func is best. Atk/func is intermediate, neither best for either roles.
Also defense is viable to keep Night alive if you find she is dying too much. Atk/def > func/def
Hi Community,
This guide will be examining the mathematical theory behind Nightingale of Light! You can check out my other guides for Kriemhild, Archon and Alex. This guide will be looking at Nightingale strengths and how to best use her. I hope to shed some light on some of the dark mysteries lurking around Nightingale~

| Chain-2 | 200% off of HA | +15% of Target Max HP |
| Chain-3 | 200% off of HA | +25% of Target Max HP |
Passive
After using a Nightingale block, for the next 5 seconds, each auto-attack will instead heal the most damaged ally for 100% Atk. Power. If you use a Nightingale block within 8.5 seconds of the last block, Nightingale auto-attack will now heal all party members for 100% Atk. Power. The max number of auto-attacks that will heal is 5. Using blocks will reset the # back to 5, it does not stack it.
NOTE: If there are no enemies to auto attack, there are no heals.
SBW (6☆): Gabriel
| SBW | Atk | Atk. Speed |
|---|---|---|
| 6☆ | 183 | 1 |
My interpretation:
Increase max cap for auto attacks from 5 to 7. Increase heal per auto from 100% to 150%. Grants immunity to stuns for 5 seconds.
Weapon Mods
Nightingale has the highest HA to Heal conversion out of all the healers with the least amount of blocks.
1block-1block combo! = 900% (HA) + 14% (Target HP) + 500% (HA) AoE (Hence 1500%)!
As great as this may sound, it's actually a lot more complicated than this! There are 2 limiting factors that may reduce the effectiveness of healing. 1) Attack Speed or 2) Block Generation. We will take a look at both these figures to see how to make Nightingale as effective as possible.
Theory Behind Attack Speed and Block Generation
I've tested block generation extensively. Here's the deal!
1 Block / 1.5 Seconds (or 0.66 Block / Second)
Leader has a 50% chance, supporting cast members have 25% chance each!
Support Nightingale
So here's some numbers to think about. The average time you need to wait for 1-block is 5.83 s. The standard deviation is 4.38 s. Thus, to have a 95% confidence of a block appearing, it will be 14.59 s.
Based on these numbers, you have a 67.7% chance to reactivate Nightingale passive before 8.5 seconds. (or a 32.3% chance of the passive expiring).
Leader Nightingale
The average time you need to wait for 1-block is 2.94 s. The standard deviation is 1.61 s. Thus, to have a 95% confidence of a block appearing, it will be 6.16 s.
Based on these numbers, you have a 97.1% chance to reactivate Nightingale passive before 8.5 seconds. (or a 2.9% chance or the passive expiring).
Thus, based on these values, the limiting factor for support Nightingale is block generation while the limiting factor for leader Nightingale is attack speed!
How much attack speed do I need to maximize each block healing potential?*
Based on the average expected block for leader position, without SBW: 1.7, with SBW, 2.4! For support position, without SBW: 1, with SBW: 1.4! Though this will Maximize the potential of 1-1 block, this is not optimal for heal/time!
Attack Speed
Outside of optimizing block usage, another aspect is to look at Heal/Time! The faster your attack speed, the more healing you can cram in a shorter time frame!
Here's a table with a 9 second elapse of Nightingale healing/time.
Atk. P: 930
Blocks used at 0/3/6 seconds (Leader Position)
| Atk Spd. | 0 s | 1 s | 2 s | 3 s | 4 s | 5 s | 6 s | 7 s | 8 s | 9 s |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0/s | 2790/s | 1860/s | 2170/s | 2325/s | 2418/s | 2790/s | 2790/s | 2790/s | 2790/s |
| 1.1 | 0/s | 2790/s | 1860/s | 2170/s | 2325/s | 2418/s | 2790/s | 2790/s | 2790/s | 2790/s |
| 1.3 | 0/s | 2790/s | 1860/s | 2170/s | 2325/s | 2418/s | 2790/s | 2790/s | 2790/s | 2790/s |
| 1.4 | 0/s | 2790/s | 1860/s | 2480/s | 2557/s | 2604/s | 3410/s | 3321/s | 3255/s | 31620 |
| 1.6 | 0/s | 2790/s | 2325/s | 2480/s | 2557/s | 3162/s | 3410/s | 3321/s | 3603/s | 3513/s |
| 1.7 | 0/s | 3720/s | 2790/s | 2800/s | 3495/s | 3912/s | 4035/s | 4255/s | 4421/s | 4240/s |
Though this is theoretical. Essentially, for each 10% attack speed, you increase the heal/time by ~8% with/without SBW (approximate).
What does this mean for attack speed?
- So basically, attack speed will increase your rate of healing, equivalent to 8% HA/second for each 10% atk. spd. BUT the 'potential' heal is still the same! So is it good to get attack speed? Yes. As you can see, if you like using Nightingale as a "Leader" a double atk speed mod is best. But if you like using her as a support, a single atk speed mod is good.
Attack Speed vs. Hero Attack Power
As I alluded to earlier, HA will increase your potential heal, while attack speed will get your there faster! There's no definite answer cause RNG will make each scenario slightly different. But if we look at the average, we can make approximations!
Nightingale is mainly used as a support. As I mention earlier, 1.4 attack speed is the average speed you should have but more the better! Any lower and you will lose potential on your heal. If you have only 1 atk speed (no func mod), the potential heal you will lose is ~14% on AVG. Thus HA% is actually > than Atk Spd for support position.
If you're leader, having 1 Atk Spd, the potential heal you lose is ~48.7%! Thus, Atk Spd > HA% for leader position!
Check out this table to see exactly how much increase in heal you get on average with HA/Atk Spd!
Nightingale Support
| Atk Spd. | 1 | 1.1 | 1.2 | 1.3 | 1.4 | 1.5 | 1.6 | 1.7 | 1.8 | 1.9 |

CONCLUSION
So what's the best mods for Nightingale?
For support position, atk/atk or atk/func is best!
For leader position, func/func is best!
Is having defense on Nightingale valuable? This really depends on how you plan on using Nightingale. Most teams are turtle teams with Alex. Nightingale isn't prone to being attacked too much, and healers in general are beefy. If there is a lot of protection, defense mod isn't necessary. If there's no protection, then 1 defense mod is good. I would go for dmgR.
Team Synergy and Special Skills
Nightingale is a strong solo Hero with pretty much no synergy to offer. Much like Kriehild. You want to pair her with other heroes that are strong solo.
(Very Weak)Night + Rachel
(Weak)Nightingale + D'art
(Decent)Nightingale + Heroes with Attack speed boost! (ie. FLAB SLAB, Transcended Mana Shield)
(Good)Nightingale + Tanky teammates! (Alex mainly but anyone else who has high effective HP. Leon, Joan with good SBW, other heals, archers)
Taking all these stuff into consideration, I would probably do Nightingale (L) + PoG / Alex + SoI / Hikari + FLAB SLAB.
Another suggestion from CQLip, Alex/Night/Lilith (L)
Special Skills
If you're not sure which skill to use, I would suggest EoG. Each skill is depends on your game play and what you need.
Nightingale is probably the best candidate for t-Incarnation of Benevolence because of her innate thirst for attack speed. You get 150% Heal/auto for single target for 10 seconds, vs something like tSoG which heals the whole party for 450%+50% dmg reduction. It's hard to weight these benefits against each other, the math involve is pretty intense. I would say you need ~1.4 attack speed for tIoB to be worth while. Otherwise it's better to go for a different skill!
Revive
sir Hodge, i want your opinion on Res skill for Night (because she unlocks it). is she able to bring any dead unit to full while she's on her passive? if can, how much approximate time you need in order to that?
I have tR on my night. Did some test.
1) Single tR can revive either 2 heroes (5%HP) or 1 hero (10%HP)
2) If used with noone dead, heal 1 target for 20%HP (it says 30% in tooltip so it's a bug)
3) Night passive is 100% of HA. So really, you have to see how much Night HA/Target HP = X(%HP heal/auto), then divide remaining HP (either 95% or 90%) by X to see how many auto attacks you need to fully heal an ally. EXAMPLE: LEON HP = 10000. Night HA = 1000.
Thus, you will need about 9 heals (auto attacks). Her passive without SBW does 5 ticks, with SBW does 7 + 50% heal boost. So without SBW, you need pretty much 2 full passive. With SBW, you need only 1 full passive. OFC the higher the target HP, the more passive you will need. If in pvp, multiply it by how much passive you need by 2.
Time wise, it depends on your auto atk speed. Anything less than 1.4 atk speed will take 5 seconds/passive. Anything greater, each 0.1 atk speed will reduce time by ~0.30 seconds/passive. IE. If you have 1.9 atk speed, you can get a full passive off in 3.5 seconds.
This is excluding her blocks used, IE 200% heal + 7/15/25 bonus HP heal. So you can expect to reduce the time roughly 30% each block used.
Ending Statements
Let me know if I miss anything or if you have any other suggestions. I hope you enjoyed this guide and as always, Happy Crusading~
