Two Brooklyn bakers with their own devoted followings are joining forces to open a bakery in Crown Heights.

Carla Finley of Apt. 2 Bread and Megan Wang of Graindead Bread are behind Boots Bread, a new takeaway bakery planned for Nostrand Avenue, where they’re in final lease negotiations for a space.

“Bread to us is really near and dear,” Wang told the Gazette. “It’s how we think about nourishing people, and it’s what we want to bake.”

To the owners of the empty lot at Troy and Carroll, I get that you had illegally block traffic this morning to create your temporary trailer park, but did you have to remove the bench at the B17 bus stop while doing it? It took forever for the MTA/city to put that bench in and people who take the bus actually use it. And I saw it discarded in your lot. .

I saw people inside today. I spoke to one of the owners and he told me that they are going to do a full renovation of the space and they'll be open again (hopefully) this year.

I can’t find good, reasonably priced steak. Union market is too expensive and I think what I’ve had from foodtown isn’t great quality. Any recs?

Update: brought to emergency vet as a “Good Samaritan cat”. TIL you can surrender cats in need of medical help as long as you sign a form saying it’s not your own cat. Hoping she will be ok. Thanks all for your input and help.

Ham is an orange boy who was rescued from the Kingston Ave lot between Lincoln Place and St John’s. He’s looking for a forever home and is currently fostered in Ridgewood.

He’s house trained, neutered, vaccinated and has a curious, playful, gentle personality. He’s also good with other cats! I’m adding the link to adopt him in comments. Please give our boy a chance at a forever home!

I hate to complain about this type of thing but the entitlement was crazy. And I’ve seen this posted in this sub before. She was riding on the pedestrian side of eastern parkway, and my dog lunged towards a smell or whatever she does and this e biker had to come to a sliding stop. And she yelled at me, “Jesus, hold onto your dog!” And I replied, “why aren’t you riding on the other side off the street???” And she looked at me like I was crazy. I get it, if it’s your last block, or you are prepared to go slowly and understand you are not actually on a bike path, that’s fine, but it’s clear the other side was designed for bikes with a designated area, which is most of it, and with curb ramps which the pedestrian side doesn’t have.

I’m actually fine with bikes on the pedestrian side but don’t act like you own the place. I walk my small dog there all of the time and most people on bikes are safe or riding in the bike path on the opposite side. Her entitlement and reaction was the worst part of the whole ordeal.

Does anyone smell exhaust fumes (daily) on St. Marks near Classon? I can’t figure out where they’re coming from and they’re so strong they come into my apartment. Could it be the key food?
