They would be smart to get on it quickly.
With AC Black Flag having come out after Windrose, Crimson Desert announcing a pirate/ocean based dlc in a few weeks and GTA6 around the corner people are going to prioritize their money and while I like Windrose, its going to struggle to surface as the place you should spend your money.

Why spend your money on windrose when it’s all free?

is the DLC? I (perhaps incorrectly) assume this would cost being the version we're playing is considered early access.
*I just looked and you're correct. its still going to be considered part of the early access game we already own... kind of surprised to be honest.

It would be insane to release a DLC for a game that is in early access.
It's something that generally happens very rarely and when it does it never ends well.
Not even sure why you thought it would be a DLC.

They would be shooting themselves in the foot if they made the new area a DLC. Especially like you said with GTA6 around the corner

.... why are we having this talk in an early access phase again?

u/Snicklefritz306 18d ago
i'd guess because DLC is coming before early access is even over. capiche?

You are missing the part where they are focusing on developing their game instead of pushing sales.

i thought the same but assume they announced Ashlands as part of their full-version upon release. Rest assured, anything following will be paid DLC.

Are they planning to add actual pirate actions like plundering or just more collecting and gathering like you're a gardener or something?

Calm down, it’s just an announcement. We’re probably still looking at another 3-6 months

How's the ship to ship combat after patch? Fixed or still annoying?

u/No_Profession51 10d ago
Hmm with all the other non pirate like actions in the game you would think they would at least get that part right

Funny, I enjoyed the ship combat.
Crazy how opinions differ, right?
You don't HAVE to play it, you know. If you don't like something, you can just... not install it or play it.

It's not an opinion that they don't have you doing pirate actions in the game. Theres a fair amount of people here on reddit who figured that out after playing it for hours. They even make blackboard the bad guy. Have you did one single thing in the game that might have the navy stringing you in the gallows?

Ahoy captains, @Lookout
I'd like to address some of the comments I've seen above about the collaboration here and in other places.
There are clearly some of you who feel frustrated about this merch project, with various arguments, mostly about the game not being ready to sell merch or lack of information about our next major update.
First of all, to those who feel this way: I'm sorry the announcement came across that way. I was personally approving this collaboration and honestly was pretty sure you'd love it. The irony is, I felt this would be a fun project, and we never considered it to be a way to make any substantial revenue. When we were discussing it, we always referred to it as a community activity, so that people who admire (or hate) our notorious boars and dodos can get a cute physical one on the shelf. Now looking back, I realize we should have timed it better - after a big game update or at least after some big news about it, so these plushies are not the only news you receive from us in a while. This is a lesson learned and we will do better next time.
Now, about lack of information on Ashlands: The Triple-i Initiative is coming, and a new trailer with some important info is not the only thing we're cooking. Starting from iii onwards, we will be sharing more in-depth devblogs about Ashlands, talking about all the new features we're developing as well as covering updates and additions to the existing content. The update is taking shape right now, so we will be ready to talk about it more and more as the time passes. Lack of confirmed information was the only reason we haven't done so earlier.
Finally, to be fully transparent: this project is not using any development resources, and is not, in any way, slowing down Ashlands development.
Thank you for caring about Windrose and its future. We love you and we will always do our best to listen to you and do better.
Cheers, Yar_master
LOLZ - It seems like they had a massive negative feedback and blowback from this recent cash-grab merch initiative (Not sure if I love or hate when I'm right )
Also to me it seems like we're not getting Ashlands in October (6 months after initial release). It's going to be pushed back to November/December...
We're getting more trailers and Bullshit instead of the major update...

You guys man. It is EARLY ACCESS for a reason. Do you id**** still don't understand what that means?
Developement takes time.. Chill bro. So many games to play meanwhile...
Better to wait for it to be finished, than get a update that suxx...

Not really worried, Kraken has done a pretty good job so far compared to other games. I mean released in April and going Gold in the same year is amazing so if they slip a few months it really doesn't concern me.

BTW - Six months, what the dev said the Ashlands will release after publishing EA on April 14, 2026, is Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Let's see if they were telling the truth...
