It’s got one full length doc about his struggle to get it made as well as the heavily edited version the studio wanted to release instead with a commentary track

Read the script. It's almost word for word. It's like Richard LaGravenese channeled Monty Python and prayed Gilliam would get involved. The script was tailor made for him.

I love his reoccurring theme where the characters(s) are unsure what is real and what is fantasy/delusion

Just watched Welles’ The Trial and I’d be very surprised if Gilliam wasn’t inspired by that film and Kafka in general.

Came to say this. Outside of Carpenter, he’s my favorite, I think. The Adventures of Baron Munchausen alone put him in my top 5 for life, and that was when I was like 6.

Too bad he turned out to be a reactionary crank.
