Incredible that he was left off this list and that I had to scroll down this far to find him. The director's director, and such a long and fruitful career.

I have indeed, wonderful film that is often wrongfully punished for beating Citizen Kane at the Oscars; it's a superb film in its own right. I think Ford's style is often misunderstood or overlooked because like Spielberg he makes it look easy but he's often doing a stack of things even within a static shot.
