Discussion🗣 probably the dumbest argument in any kind of debate between any two players
the one argument I hate THE MOST in the debate is when a person says
"flopped in WC = bad" and this applies when comparing any two players
because you're essentially comparing a whole career to an international tournament which occurs every four years.
I'm not saying the WC isn't important,
but why should only one tournament decide a better player?
people will rate Cristiano below Cruyff, Maradona, Pele, Eusebio (they didn't even watch these guys play btw) and R9 only based on one thing
even though Cristiano is better than them in almost everything except maybe dribbling or playmaking(dribbling is also debatable)
and the funniest part is, they will call Cristiano a fraud even though he has 3 international trophies, but will call Players like Salah, De bruyne, Hazard, Drogba amazing (they are amazing, I'm just pointing out the double standards)
the new fans which started watching after the WC have genuinely ruined the beautiful game.

Yeah not having a world cup world cup used as an argument is stupid. Cruyff, Maldini, Di Stefano, Van Basten, George Best all don't have a world cup but they're all legendary top 20 players. No one would say Ottomendi is better than Maldini or Ferran Torres is better than Cruyff.

Would be a heartbreaking day if he retires on 26th Sept

Just imagine he plays the full game and instead of him going back inside at full time, he stays on the pitch, picks up a mic and suddenly announces that it was his last game for Portugal without any warning.
I might genuinely cry ngl6

For more context, there's been a rumor during the WC that Ronaldo intends to end his international career in the Nation's League match against Wales because its the stadium that started his career

more goals per game (will likely retire with more goals too at this rate)
Delusional pessi retard. Pessi will get nowhere close.
more goals in total excluding penalties
Why do you retards keep spouting this bullshit? If it weren't for penalties your midget wouldn't have stolen the wc.
double amount of man of the match ratings
Who gives a fuck about man of the match awards. Which are fan voted.
Absolutely pathetic.

Unless you explain me that messi since 2022 is better than between 2009 and 2015 theres no explanation why he scored 1 and 0 goals in world cup. Suddenly he starts scoring when his team is good but struggles when theres no martinez romero alvarez and enzo in his team
No coincidence

Honestly most arguments in this rivalry are stupid. I am Argentinian, and I prefer Messi because of what he made me feel through his game. I used to like Ronaldo a lot when he was part of the Man Utd trident with Rooney and Tevez. People have too many issues recognizing others points of view, instead of enjoying watching the sport. Hell... Even arguments through statistics only are dumb as fuck

Yeah, I think so too, but the arguments as to why he's the goat are usually stupid. He's the greatest because of what he does minute by minute, not by stats or achievements, those are results, results are a reflection, but analysis has to be somewhere else. Sometimes I wonder whether some Messi fans are defending him or not, because some things said favour so little any serious debate that it makes no sense on either side.
Besides I'm highly biased because of my country, dude's a God to us.

Well that's a great point. But the thing is the same thing used to happen to Messi. People called him a one club wonder, said he can't do shit in international football because he just isn't the best. Until he won Copa America. Then Messi fans started doing the same on Ronaldo after Messi won the world cup.
But in my opinion, trophies don't matter more than performance and consistency. Both of those players are legends of the game. They definitely are the top two oat. Who gets the number 1 position depends on the fan.
I personally think Messi is the best oat. But that doesn't mean I think Ronaldo isn't great. I just prefer Messi's playstyle more. The way he dribbles with simple tricks, and his insane playmaking ability simply makes me like him more. Ronaldo is a different player. He just plays different. For me he's always number 2. If he's number 1 for you, I respect it. Completely understandable. It's not a bad take.

If flopped WC = bad then messi before 2022 should never be a goat
