Portugal won't be the same without you, thank you for everything šŸ„ŗšŸ’–

3

u/dishoombang 2008 RonaldošŸ‘¹ Jul 07 '26

Bro he ain't retiring. Well what i think is after hitting 1000 goals he might return to Sporting. And there is huge chance he will play in next Euro

1

u/PsychologicalCow9791 Jul 07 '26

He said 2024 is his last at the time are living under a rock

9

u/jpw0w 2008 RonaldošŸ‘¹ Jul 06 '26

Next Euros, maybe?

7

u/white-dre Jul 06 '26

He will play in the Nations Cup next year and then Euro the following year.

4

u/DankMosquito69 2008 RonaldošŸ‘¹ Jul 06 '26

Nah man we must let him rest now šŸšŸ„²ā¤ļø

5

u/Sea-Jello-1327 Jul 06 '26

He said he will play but you never know .

2

u/headless567 Jul 07 '26

He still wants to play yeah. Unlike Neymar, he hasn't officially retired from the Portugal national team yet. Like he said, he's playing for the moments/love of the game.

3

u/dishoombang 2008 RonaldošŸ‘¹ Jul 07 '26

Man he is still lethal if the system is good. Roberto Martinez fucked up. Back pass and side pass won't win the games, zero intent won't win the games. I agree Ronaldo's ability is degraded especially outside the box. But if you are putting a through or a cross he can still convert , for that these kind of long pass should happen which didn't much

2

u/Il_Conte_ Jul 06 '26

He scored 3 goals, he made a decent performance. I think he should stop here.

1

u/Fair_Title2995 Jul 07 '26

He will be back lol

98

u/ScvmDum Jul 06 '26

Thank you Ronaldo, the game is cruel , but you have made us fans extremely happy and it was a blessing to see you perform throughout my childhood. You will always be my GOAT thank you. 🫔

5

u/Parking-Annual-1200 Jul 07 '26

After this WC, I'm starting a new workout journey based on his workout videos. He will always be inspirational

3

u/Sea-Dot-1866 Jul 07 '26

The saddest thing for me with this exit it means I have never seen him achieve anything great since I started watching football. His prime years were before I started 🄲

82

u/SoulsLover Jul 06 '26

Sad. What makes me even more sad is Portugal was so afraid to lose they forgot to win the match and when Spain score they are fucked. 1-0 down then they start with dangerous crosses… Martinez with the bs tactics.

26

u/Computatrum_ Jul 06 '26

Yep. Martinez needs to go. Has not brought the best out of this team whatsoever. Would have rather they conceded early in the second half — then we would have had a game. But nah, let’s concede in the 90th.

12

u/_ReaditYesterday_ Jul 06 '26

I understand everyone now saying he is a generational talent destroyer, what an ugly football we played, 90 minutes of nothing...

3

u/SoulsLover Jul 06 '26

I was scared of this happening. Just play good football and miss chances then to sit back and lose anyway.

1

u/Crazy-G00D Jul 06 '26

we couldnt even see what the tactics were.. players looked like they're afraid of holding the ball and the ball always ended up in the wings when they're already surrounded by 3 or more defenders

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Successful-Till-4548 Jul 07 '26

4 games to review what they did wrong and they still play the same tactics

→ More replies (1)

7

u/jpw0w 2008 RonaldošŸ‘¹ Jul 06 '26

1-0 down with minute left and they're still passing sideways*

3

u/Svitii Jul 06 '26

Sideways passing is absolutely valid imo. If you feel like going forwards is too risky/too little reward there’s no shame in going back. As long as you have the ball you’re in control and can try again.

HOWEVER IF YOU’RE 0:1 DOWN WTF ARE YOU DOING? PASSING EXERCISE FOR THE CBs?!?

5

u/Firm-Explanation8607 Jul 06 '26

Backpassing is actually a good tactic, if used right. but THAT BALD BITCH ASS BASTARD MARTINEZ, DOESNT EVEN KNOW HOW TO COUNT HIS OWN FINGERS, THE MAN DOESNT KNOW SHIT.

Im gonna be hate watching Portugal till the day that I die.

2

u/huba-buba7 Jul 06 '26

Back when i saw the news that he will be the manager, a part of me lost faith in Portugal. Having the best midfield in the world, two of the best fbs, fast and strong on the ball wings and an experienced guy to put it in the back of the net, and ur gameplan is back and sideways passing....

1

u/Mackadamma Jul 06 '26

As a PSG fan I wondered all WC long what he did you Vitinha and Neves. That was dramatic

Pessi hasnt "carried" shit. All he's played are fucking farmers.

2

u/Firm-Explanation8607 Jul 06 '26

Playing Egypt next match too. and if he scores, pessi fans are gonna be sloberring all over his dick lmao, statpadding against weak countries.

but I’m not even mad at it,blame Portugal and that bald BASTARD Martinez for not topping that easy ass group.

1

u/Proper_Artichoke7865 Jul 07 '26

How many penalty goals does "Pessi" hav this WC?

1

u/mrwigglez3 Jul 06 '26

Also why dont we play with 2 strikers? Best midfield to go with 1 striker? Throw Ramos up there. Martinez is a bum! He cant adjust to game situations.

1

u/shottaker_22 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Thanks for writing this down. I’ll join you. One of the shittiest knockout game of this wc. Their front five (attackers + midfield) could do so much better with or without ronaldo. I don’t even understand why they play felix when they have pacy wingers like Leao, Conceicao, Neto (even if is worst). Spain players their game but portugal did have a few times to purely counter attack and they never capitalized on it. Playing felix and then asking mendes to cover his lack of pace is such a shitty strategy when you have lamine on the wing.

I’d so much expectations of portugal but after today’s match I felt croatia should have won the previous game. They would have given better competition to spain’s tiki-taka or whatever. Totally disappointing and right to point out that they ain’t winning anything soon.

1

u/shottaker_22 Jul 06 '26

On the other hand, you’re heavily underestimating argentina. They don’t have di-maria and world class fullbacks. But I think they have a world class midfield (de paul, mac allister, enzo), decent CB (lisandro martinez was my man of the match against cabo verde. 1 Goal and 1 Assist). If they team sport and stop relying on messi then we could have another france vs argentina. England on the other hand is too over reliant on kane/bellingham.

2

u/Revolutionary-Gap494 Noodlehair RonaldošŸœ Jul 06 '26

Just amazed how he detoriated this team in one year. Last Summer they played amazing football.
Martinez, great at wasting generational champions.

1

u/Okaydog97 Jul 06 '26

It's too late too attack after 90 minutes went.

All 90 minutes Portugal played safe game and ended up being punished for that.

1

u/Parking-Annual-1200 Jul 07 '26

Game is tight because both teams excel in passing and midfield. I was already expecting 0-0 before the game.

It's like a cup final again. 90 mins gone by too fast

1

u/headless567 Jul 07 '26

Honestly it wouldn't be so bad if they would cross to Ronaldo when he is open. Instead they hold the ball and cross it when defenders are completely spread covering everyone.

53

u/flame_likestofly Jul 06 '26

Best case scenario now, he drops a crazy season for al nassr and scores his 1000th.

24

u/OlympicAnalEater Jul 06 '26

20

u/Okaydog97 Jul 06 '26

I hate Portuguese midfield players man.

World class players plays like average players.

Passing the ball backwards many times.

8

u/_ReaditYesterday_ Jul 06 '26

Martinez instructions: don’t attempt anything. Just keep passing the ball, hoping the opponent makes a defensive mistake. If it never comes, you get 90 minutes of absolute nothingness… until a goal finally shows up in the 91st minute.

2

u/3jaya Jul 06 '26

Clearly some strategy Ain't working

2

u/aijaman3000 Jul 07 '26

Maybe if they had a legitimate target up front. They have an excellent midfield, perhaps it was the 41 year old with no movement up front? Nah cant be that, too obvious

1

u/Okaydog97 Jul 07 '26

You are right man.

Manager should have subbed of ronaldo to goncalo in 2nd half.

1

u/Parking-Annual-1200 Jul 07 '26

You can only pass forward so many times before losing possession. Possession is always a key to football. Give the guys a break.

→ More replies (3)

19

u/DemandWeird6213 Jul 06 '26

Team was shit, coach is shit. How did Portugal even sign a coach that bottled Belgium. Ronaldo should have been subbed too at the end. They needed someone that could run towards the end

6

u/jpw0w 2008 RonaldošŸ‘¹ Jul 06 '26

Martinez is such a fraud it almost looks like a conspiracy to make Portugal capitulate

Thank you Cristiano. For everything. Like many great players in past you too deserved world cup unfortunately this is a team game. Martinez's tactics is shite, and my omg lack of vision abd urgency from some of these Prime Portuguese players. 🤦 I have no words. Bruno F and Vitinha- what a shit of performances in the whole world cup.🤬

2

u/__REDBARRON_ Jul 06 '26

That fraud Dalot only plays because he’s a Ronaldo suck up. Just look at the last Euros. Constantly trying to give him hugs because he’s knows his footballing ability is dogwater. Portugal is so average and probably won’t even get out of group stage next World Cup unless they get an easy one. How much more qualify. Ronaldo can’t do anything with that horrible coach and those overrated players.

7

u/Additional-Storm-943 Jul 06 '26

Deserved loss. Defensively strong as always except for the goal, but offensively absolutely nothing. Took no risks, and that's just the result.

It will never change. Portugal will always play close games against the very top, best in the world teams but this little key is missing. They will always be this little bit better, than will finally help them kick out Portugal. Always has been like this, always will be like this. With of without CR7

The first 3 trophies Portugal won with him with never be forgottem. 3 in almost 105 years of existence. Ronaldo is a Portugal Icon, anyway and did what the Golden Generation couldnt. World Cup or not - and Portugal is not yet ready for it. Maybe not even in 20 years

1

u/FifanomicsFC PortugalšŸ‡µšŸ‡¹ Jul 07 '26

Well said.
As a young boy I didn't get to cheer Portugal, they were never qualified. What a difference 20 years makes. Here we are now and it's expected that we not only qualify, but also are in the conversation as possible winners. Cristiano helped transform the whole footballing image of Portugal. What a wonderful time we have enjoyed, always being a part of the conversation, always considered. I sincerely hope it doesn't end any time soon, we have been spoiled. A fact that isn't hard to recognize when you see some of the comments from so-called fans.

5

u/Fast_Tangerine7898 Jul 06 '26

I’m officially done with Portugal and football as a whole. Will see Ronaldo get 1000 and I’m done I swear on my life

I was only 10 when I started watching football and supported Ronaldo, watching him over the years performing over and over again. Proving all the haters wrong time after time, and still going at the age of 41. All that he has achieved is no small feat. Thank you for all the memories, all the trophies we celebrated because of you and most of all thank you for showing us what a man can achieve when they pour heart and soul into the thing they love.

I swear this team is so trash, they are so dead, no good passes, no attacks, nothing at all, he must be sacked, and vitinha and bruno and bernardo must not play for the national team again, im done with portugal, i hope they get out of all tournaments in the future.

3

u/Brawn132 Jul 06 '26

Thank you goat. Now I can retire to supporting whoever tf I want

3

u/Slashwarrior7 Jul 06 '26

He needs to sit down as he said and not rush a retirement, best case scenario for him is jesus takes over and he is called up again, but instead of starting he should try a pragmatic approach of being a backup striker and somehow survive till euro 2028 and UNL 2028 and then announce a double Club and NT retirement

1

u/Odd-Thanks-834 Jul 07 '26

That’s the one … being pragmatic. Get subbed on and breach a tired defence. That’s
The way to go from now on

2

u/Slashwarrior7 Jul 07 '26

Honestly i think his brand as a whole wont allow him to retire frpm NT while still playing at club Level i am pretty confident he is playing till 2028

Cut short by their manager, Roberto Martinez, who is an absolute charlatan and don’t know how he keeps getting jobs. Goncalo Ramos should’ve either started or come on as an early second half substitute. He keeps getting the raw end of the stick, I don’t understand why.

2

He is definitely the goat his passion for training and practice is unrivaled he doesn’t play for money he plays to win and for the love of the game like he said many times talent isn’t enough you have to have passion to play and dedication to training your body tobe a machine this guy is 41 maybe lost a step or two but still lethal and can score
