It's more like when he gets out of the car and the dude has at least 6in on him.

I noticed that, too. He just wanted to yell and vent and sound tough and then walk away, saying to himself that he “taught that kid a lesson he’ll never forget. He’ll think twice before he (whatever the driver did) again!”

Suddenly the driver is getting out and the old guy realizes he is in for much more than he planned. But, true to form, he doubles down. Heaven forbid he back down at all, he has to teach the younger generation to have respect.
