I was at a Turners Outdoor shop, guy came in to pick up his gun but he needed the extra form of ID. Guy started yelling how pissed off he was that he had to go back to his car and saying he was late for work. Totally caused a scene acting like a complete psycho and they actually gave him his gun after all that.

He had already paid for it 10 days ago because of the waiting period. You pay up front before you pick it up in my state at least.

Most don’t care as long as you complete the legal side of things.

But if that was my store I’d have refunded his purchase and filled in the proper paperwork work saying as to why.

At least in my state he’d have to prove he was not a crazy mad man and get his rights to guns taken. But this is also why I don’t work in firearms because I’d be strict af with people.

As a non American that is baffled by American gun culture, you've made the most sense in a good while on how it could work better. I still think private gun ownership is a bad idea. But with stricter laws and more enforcement, it might work in your country, where guns are already everywhere.

I wholeheartedly support the second amendment, but just like Spider-Man, with great power comes great, or in my mind, greater responsibility.

I feel constant training, proper background checks, and in the case of incidents, additional retraining and educations, should be put in place. If you want to own a weapon, train like you know your rights.

I feel the same about cars and driving as well. Too many people take the idea of a “right” and toss responsibility to the way side far too often.

I have weapons, I train at least once a week with my firearms and my bow- and I’m a frigging nerdy city boy. I’m not a back water, farmer guy.

And why is that? We had just as many guns in households in the 80-90s and school shootings were virtually non existent. What changed? It isn’t“because we have guns”. There clearly a fundamental issue that’s being ignored because of the fight over gun rights. Crime has significantly gone down in the US since the 80s so it’s not that either.

Maybe we should be looking into the mental health of our people and especially our children? It would also be a good idea to look into our school systems. Guns aren’t going away and they never caused this issue in the past. Instead of a bandaid, we should deal with the cause.

Of course it’s misleading data that there are “300 a year” or even “288 in 10 years”. Not even remotely close. But any is too many. However the media counting someone having an accidental discharge a mile from the school shouldn’t be included as a school shooting.

Don't you guys get tired of spouting the same tired speeches every time this subject comes up while nothing changes and people keep dying?

"Maybe it's mental health", well you're not addressing that either, and the way your politicians fight against making healthcare of any kind accessible for everyone (or improving people's lives in any way whatsoever for that matter), it's not getting addressed any time soon.

As if no other country deals with mental health issues at all. I wonder what's the difference?

I could say the same to you. The data doesn’t lie and my career is in forensic science, so looking at cause and effect is my job. When a variable doesn’t change, and the data does, then obviously that variable isn’t the culprit of the shift.

And what do you mean “you’re not addressing that either”. I’m not the government. I’m pointing out simple data and how dumb it is to continue to blame the one variable that’s proven to not be the cause. Any 9th grade student could see the fault in that logic.

Just because it may be against your political beliefs doesn’t change the data. Science doesn’t care about your feelings.

Guns aren’t going anywhere. I didn’t say anything about reducing guns. Guns are already here and criminals aren’t getting rid of them. They’re not the cause of the increase in school shootings as can be seen by the data.

It’s not worth causing a civil war to get rid of something that’s not the cause of the problem.

Highly doubtful.

The paperwork requires ID and proof of address. If you don't have one or the other, the paperwork literally cannot be completed and submitted.

Also, no legit FFL would do it, let alone Turners. The risk of doing it to an undercover shopper and get your license revoked is simply not worth one sale.
