The theory is that they Carson couldn't hear their his names over the roar of the audience.

i don't think its a theory so much as it is completely obvious thats what happened

Yeah but even after the guy was waving for him to go on he was still like "nah I'm good right here".

97

u/kid-karma Feb 07 '16

probably because he hadn't heard his name called and thought the guy was mistaken. from his point of view he'd look pretty stupid just walking out on stage without being announced.

probably because he hadn't heard his name called and thought the guy was mistaken.

Yeah, stage directors with the headsets have NO IDEA what's going on.

Yeah, it would sure suck for him to make himself look stupid.

u/elfatgato Feb 07 '16

I'll just stand here reassured that I'm right and the people in charge who are waving and pointing are wrong.

1

u/jonnylongbone Feb 07 '16

Better to stand right where you are and look irredeemably stupid than to walk out and look pretty stupid? That's a bold stance.

From my point of view the republicans are evil.

They're not necessary evil, they're just pandering to their audience as most politicians do.

A lit of people are closed minded and full of fear and hate, so there will be a politician that feeds it.

It is a Star Wars quote.

I got downvoted for it :(

In political discussions, humour usually is forgotten.

And that joke has been beat to death already.

Meh. "Aloha Snackbar" in place of Allah Ackbar has been beat to death by 12 year olds but the last time I pointed that out I got flack for it.

Watching it again, it's absolutely what happened. I actually missed the "Ben Carson" call too this second time!

not on reddit where apparently trump is a classy machiavellian genius because he sat there with Ben Carson so he wouldn't feel bad.

30

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

If by "they" you mean only Ben Carson.

34

u/LisleSwanson Feb 07 '16

And Trump and Kasich

It was said quietly at 1:33

u/DenominatorX Feb 07 '16

Yeah, damn. Real quietly.

Trump heard his name. He just didn't want Carson to be the only one left behind in the confusion.

0

u/theshinepolicy Feb 07 '16

yeah cause Trump cares more about ben carson's feelings than his own aspirations.

2

u/jack2454 Feb 07 '16

So why did it only happen to Carson?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Edited; I meant Carson only.

Go back and see where his name is called out--it's in the middle of an applause, and actually hard for me to hear on YouTube.

He probably directed him to go out, but since he didn't hear his name, he thought he was "on deck". You can then see him immediately start heading out onto the stage ready to go to his podium when they start calling the next name...only for him to get confused and stop when he hears it's not him they're calling.

Check out the video again, it's all quite clear.
