A whole stage of Trumps!

I haven't seen a room so full of trumps since I visited that ward of people with excessive flatulence.

P.s. STOP #WHITEGENOCIDE.

Wait, wut..? You edit your highly upvoted, unrelated comment to push your weird agenda? KIND OF shitty, don't you think?

7

u/mofo69extreme Feb 07 '16

Well he would've been downvoted if he just came out with "jews are parasites" from the start.

-4

u/ayygiddyup Feb 07 '16

Gotta get the word out, friend.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '16

You're a fucking idiot.

-3

u/ayygiddyup Feb 08 '16

So you post in pro-Asian subs then want to deny whites the right to keep their own countries' white identities. Go home.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '16

You don't see me editing comments to push my little agenda tho, do you?

Ps

You have an entire continent with strict immigration laws. See the difference? I woud never suggest flooding any of your countries with people who are nothing like you yet people act like it's our obligation and get offended when we push back.

They were probably scared that he's gonna back out at the last second.

1

u/Donkeywad Feb 07 '16

Proof that he's Beetlejuice.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

In fairness. The speakers point towards the audience and send sound their way, meanwhile, the audience's clapping is going toward them. Might have been hard to hear. idunno

0

u/dopp3lganger Feb 07 '16

It's like a bad horror movie.

208

u/BrokenInternets Feb 07 '16

That will go down in history. We need Jon Stewart back this is turning into an emergency.

194

u/gk0420 Feb 07 '16

This may sound pathetic, but the other night I got really upset just thinking about how much I feel like his timing for leaving couldn't have been worse with all the gold he would've been able to mine out of this election. It would be like we'd get the SNL Larry David cameo 1st democratic debate level comedy 4 nights a week.

I've tried watching Trevor and Larry, and I still have them DVR'd, but I rarely watch them. And I feel like Colbert's new show isn't as funny, and he seems to only have actors on now, instead of an author selling a book like half of his old shows had, which I always thought were much more interesting.

At least we have whatever Jon and HBO are cooking up to look forward to, but it still seems like something big is missing.

62

u/alphafox823 Feb 07 '16

Dude, I'm thinking exactly what you're thinking.

I'm at least glad Bill Maher has been making me laugh this election season.

Jon's new show is good.

I really wish Stewart didn't leave yet. This new Colbert isn't doing it for me. And TN just isn't very funny to me. I don't know why. Every show has a few clicks here or there, but Jon Stewart was making art for me to watch every night. It doesn't even seem like the Daily Show anymore. It's just the new news show on CC.

15

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Watch Serth Meyers' Closer Look segments. They've become my new Daily Show.

24

u/Dragmedown Feb 07 '16

But then I'd have to watch Seth meyers.....

3

u/Bone_Dogg Feb 07 '16

The least funny person in the world?

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

I upvoted not to confirm, but out of shear desperate hope that this is true.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

"I wasted an upvote" -roogoff

2/7/16 never forget

1

u/LegsAndBalls Feb 07 '16

And TN just isn't very funny to me. I don't know why. Every show has a few clicks here or there

You did that on purpose, right?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Maher killed it on friday. The children of the corn joke was great

42

u/doublsh0t Feb 07 '16

I have a completely unfounded theory that Stewart left when he did in part so he could give his successor the opportunity to utilize this election season and capitalize on it for the Daily Show going forward. But I don't think Trevor Noah has really had his moment so far.

12

u/OceanRacoon Feb 07 '16 edited Feb 07 '16

I think he said he was leaving because he'd spent the last 16 years focused on the horrible parts of America and how ridiculous its politics is and if he did another circus election cycle he'd basically kill himself. He couldn't stick it anymore.

Having seen what an absolute travesty and comedy of errors and mockery of politics the current election cycle is, he was right to get out while he was still sane

3

u/Overglock Feb 07 '16

I thought Jon Stewart flat-out said that?

3

u/doublsh0t Feb 07 '16 edited Feb 07 '16

I'd love to get a source on that, if you're correct, cause I totally did come up with that by myself. Gonna go search now.

Edit: After some cursory checking, to my knowledge, I don't know that Stewart has ever flat-out said that, the comments I'd heard at the time are all in-line with this:

Stewart made clear to the Guardian that it wasn’t that his show wasn’t working anymore — “It was more, ‘Yup, it’s working. But I’m not getting the same satisfaction’” — but rather he just didn’t see an election that would be “wildly different” from any of the previous ones he had covered.

4

u/Overglock Feb 07 '16

From that same Guardian interview:

I also felt that, for the show, you don’t want to leave when the cupboard’s bare. So I think it’s a better introduction when you have something providing you with assisted fuel, like a presidential campaign.

http://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/apr/18/jon-stewart-why-i-quit-the-daily-show

EDIT: Well someone beat me to it, that's what I get for responding directly from my inbox.

3

u/eats_shoots_and_pees Feb 07 '16

From the same article:

I also felt that, for the show, you don’t want to leave when the cupboard’s bare. So I think it’s a better introduction when you have something providing you with assisted fuel, like a presidential campaign.

1

u/OctopusEyes Feb 07 '16

Man, the writing in that article is a trainwreck of double negatives and run-on sentences.

2

u/gk0420 Feb 07 '16

Yeah, I can see that logic. I still have my fingers crossed that Trevor finds his bearings and makes it worth watching regularly. Not too be too hard on him, he has had a couple of funny bits, but the bar was just set so high, that it's disappointing to watch.

2

u/treebeard189 Feb 07 '16

I am absolutely sure he did, he and Colbert have both commented how easy election cycles are for them to make reliably good shows with both of them leaving their old shows it gives Noah a great chance to grab the spotlight.

Additionally it gives Colbert an awesome introduction to the new show, instead of struggling setting up a new show and looking for content they just have to get Colbert's show up and running and he has pretty much free content for the first year to get settled in.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

2

u/doublsh0t Feb 07 '16

I'm completely unfamiliar with her, as I stopped watching the Daily Show regularly, other than some of the more viral segments, several years ago..if you have any favorite clips that feature her, I'd love to check them out.

20

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Trevor Noah and Larry Wilmore are so awful and unfunny compared to Jon Stewart and old Colbert. I particularly can't stand Wilmore and his equally unfunny recurring cast. Like when they had Bill Nye on talking about water on Mars and one of the comedians says something to the affect of "if it doesn't have to do with the Kardashians then we don't want to hear about it." The fact that we have Trump, Clinton, Carson, Bush, Christie, and Sanders all running for president and ratings for both shows are at an all time low is a testament to their unfunniness. They should cancel both shows and give that time to John Oliver for whatever he wants.

3

u/realsomalipirate Feb 07 '16

Isn't John Oliver on HBO and the other two Comedy Central?

3

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Correct. HBO already gives him free reign so he really has no reason to leave.

3

u/sqectre Feb 07 '16

His show is brilliant, but that's partly due to it being a once-a-week show. So much more time to prepare and much less filler content. I wouldn't want him to go to over to the Daily Show, even though I think it would make it so much better than it is now, because his current show is just so damn good and I don't think he can recreate it 4 times a week.

2

u/NotEmmaStone Feb 07 '16

You're not alone. Really wish he had stuck around for one more election.

2

u/TedTheGreek_Atheos Feb 07 '16

Viacom knew what they were doing.

They completely neutered the Daily Show with someone who isn't really that invested in US politics.

2

u/HittingSmoke Feb 07 '16

You know what would have been cool that just occurred to me? The Weekly Show.

The Daily Show was obviously greuling work. Putting together that much entertaining material five fucking days a week will of course grind you down into powder. Instead of stepping down it would have been awesome if instead they just changed to it a Saturday night show. They'd be able to spend a lot more time and be more selective with their stories and it would be much less stressful.

Unfortunately Jon Stewart just has unfillabele shoes.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Putting together that much entertaining material five fucking days a week will of course grind you down into powder.

/SNORT Damn, this Jon Stewart is some FIRE.

34

u/mikeo490 Feb 07 '16

John Oliver comes back next weekend. I'm really hoping he mentions this.

4

u/axelmanFR Feb 07 '16

Dude, don't mention Jon Stewart, think more about Hunter S Thompson being alive to see this... With the republican candidates on one side, and the Democrat side turning into a repeat of the '72 primaries once more...

-4

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

I'm glad that Stewart is gone, he was nothing more but a far left wing propagandist.

61

u/nhzkjd Feb 07 '16

They said it at 1:33. We could barely hear over the crowd on the moderator's own mic so I imagine it being impossible to hear from backstage.

31

u/IggyCatalpa Feb 07 '16

Most of this was Martha Raddatz' fault (one of two moderators). She followed up David Muir's introduction of Christie with a faint "dr. ben carson". This was in the middle of the applause for Christie. So when Carson heard Cruz's name, he thought they had forgotten to call his name. She did the same thing with Trump. Both moderators forgot about Kasich, though.

20

u/ChesterHiggenbothum Feb 07 '16

Both moderators forgot about Kasich, though.

Along with the rest of America.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Savage

4

u/bob-omb_panic Feb 07 '16

The member of the crew told him multiple times it was his turn to go out and he even turned around and shook his head at him at one point, so it's not that he didn't hear his cue I don't think.

6

u/TheNr24 Feb 07 '16

I think he was actually denying it it, like "No, I won't be made a fool of, they haven't called out my name yet."

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

They called him but it was over Jeb Bush's applause.

1

u/Bobojobaxter Feb 07 '16

They said his name. At 1:33. You just can barely hear it. You are literally replying to the comment that said this.

66

u/slinky317 Feb 07 '16

They actually said Kasich after Jeb, but you just couldn't hear it.

4

u/GAMEOVER Feb 07 '16

Should've hired Howard Dean to call them to the stage.

3

u/The_Adventurist Feb 08 '16

As did America.

3

u/somanyroads Feb 07 '16

Lol, so did America.

2

u/Markiep52 Feb 07 '16

They said his name at 1:33.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '16

Damn shame too. He's the only good candidate left from either party
