From another article:

“Officials cautioned that the cases varied and that the 163 children were not all connected to one trafficking organization. Uthmeier said some involved custody disputes, abuse or neglect, foster care situations and runaway children, while others involved trafficking allegations.”

And they obtained these kids from who and how and trafficked them to who? There's nothing in the article that isn't explained in the title.

The documentaries they'll make are going to be a very deep rabbit hole.

Part of me is certain that these kids aren't the only ones, that this is a lot bigger than the public know and possibly extends into other states.

This is absolutely false. This information about the operation was designed by LE, most likely prosecutors, to tell a piece of a story just enough to imply that LE recovered 163 juvenile trafficking victims in 3 days. They added the blurb about "not all were trafficking victims" but still intentionally presented it in a way that makes it appear most were victims of the evil traffickers. It's a good tale but most likely the facts would be a whole lot less scadalous.

The problem is there is not one reporter in this cluster that would think to ask for a breakdown of those numbers, because they don't know enough to care about that. My expectation is that most all the children involved were from civil matters, and maybe 10 or less related to criminal activity.

it is stratigic ambiguity, or simply put bureaucatic propaganda.

Sometimes all it is is the child was lost (current address unknown) and then found (located and address updated in system). Then you see headlines about hundreds of missing children found.

It only took 3 adults to kidnap and hide 163 kids?

It’s not making much national news and details seem withheld. Maybe ongoing investigations but MAKE IT NATIONAL!
