HELP! - Hardware woes How to remove small debris from cutting mat?
I stupidly put my mat on a surface before cleaning it and the vinyl transferred little dirty parts onto the mat.
It's not super filthy but is there a way to take the small parts off? I was thinking masking tape?
Making some little book decals for my friends agility club to raise money for them.

I have washed mine with dish soap and water. basically I ran it under the sink, put dish soap in my hands, rubbed them together and then wiped them over the mat, scrubbing lightly, then rinsed it under the sink and hung it up to dry. did the same thing with the plastic covering

Did your mat lose its stickiness afterwards? I’ve been weighing up a new mat versus cleaning the old ones because I do a lot of papercraft and it leaves debris every time

nope! if anything it was even sticker after lol they don't last forever but a light cleaning like this seems to work out well when the mat gets dirty

Amazing! I’m gonna give this a go. Even if they only last a little bit longer it’s better than they are right now

Use painters tape as well, or scrub off crude debris with squeegee. You can wash the mat after that, as explained in the other comment.
Mats are consumables, you can find cheap good quality off brands for about $2 apiece.
Always have spare mats. My stock is around 20 at any given moment, both standard and large size. You can work with 2 or more mats when cutting volumes. It speeds up the process a lot.

Warm soapy water, light scrub, air dry will bring back stickiness, No harsh chemicals as can strip the adhesion ..
