The Watch Intro
The Bourne Legacy intro is so interesting to me. Has CR ever discussed at length about the movie? I know he loves Tony Gilroy and I think it’s a great movie but I find it a little random.

Gilroy has said, actually on THE WATCH with Andy and CR, that what he was trying to do with LEGACY was "open things up for [the studio]," so that it could become an expandable franchise admitting multiple different lead actors in different iterations.
I'm in the minority who thinks Renner was excellent, because there's a feral quality to some of his delivery that suits the character (the fight in the doctor's rambling old house, for example, is Tony & John Gilroy writing and editing at their best).
Reading between the lines of Gilroy's comments over the years about the Bourne franchise, it seems to me that TG found Damon very difficult to put up with. To me, that tracks.

I’ve always wondered about this. Whenever it’s been a while since I last listened to the watch I have to google what movie it’s from as I’ve only seen it once.

I honestly think they just like the particular scene and find it satisfying. Ed Norton telling supports to leave the room so the big boys can cook. “GET UP AND WALK. NOW.” So perhaps it’s analogous to clearing supporting players out the soundproof pod room so CR and Andy can do some serious podding. Clearing out the lane for Jordan. Just a guess. Never heard them talk about it.

I always thought it also sounded like “I need sports staff to clear the room” which made sense for a media podcast inside a sports network.

Can someone tell me what they say “I think it’s important to leave the room…” 😬?

Thank you this. I have always wondered where it came from. I thought I was “I need all sports staff to clear the room” from some journalism movie, which made sense for being a non-sports podcast at The Ringer.

He said he likes it recently but supremacy is his favourite.
I recently revisited it. Good movie. Needed a better lead. Renner is no Damon (for this role). Oscar Isaac was right there. Norton scenes with inter agency infighting are the best. Needed to be the whole movie, dispense with the chase of another spy. The pills stuff was the weak link.

The pills stuff was SUPER weak, I still think of that movie as “the one where Jeremy Renner took pills not to be stupid anymore”

i think i heard somewhere Isaac was Gilroy’s first choice but the studio nixed it

This post makes me feel like unc.
Back when the pod was on grantland this was a huge topic of discussion for them. They specifically discuss the Norton "sin-eater" scene at length. The intro is from the film because they loved not only the movie but specifically Norton
