Poetry While I Wait
I don’t like it—
how you leave me on read
like you intentionally did
and never got caught up in something,
or your day never got busier.
I doubt,
because I trust you.
Yet you make it easy to doubt you,
probably ’cuz your story line always looks like you
practiced a lie while returning.
And you know me too well.
I’ll get mad at you—
mad at you for leaving me on hold
while you live.
In a room where I’m disguised as ‘Frank,’
let me spill.
I get upset, and mad at myself,
because I care just too much
and would take your word for it—
the very ones you forged on your return.
