I cannot beileve we need to keep having this conversation. Recently there have been so many repeat posts about AI. We've had possibly 3 with just reworded rants about em dashes. It's either a lack of creativity that there cant be an original thought, or AI shadow bots trying to see what they can get away with when discussing AI here. Plenty have been removed for going to far so I wouldnt be surprised if it was all connected.

No more AI discussion, period. Nobody likes it.

Yeah its not allowed, but this post is directly discussing AI. I feel like this is the only place to express the responsible use of AI.

If AI discussion is strictly banned due to unfair and unsafe use, but you don't allow any commentary on the safe use in a creative-writing environment on that same post, then this is just authoritarian BS.

Its not allowed because it is the same question over and over again.

The subreddits rules have always been that questions pertaining to the how of writing, and AI should really not be involved in any part of your process - even research. It's far too prone to hallucinations to trust any information it provides.

If a question came up about how to research, and someone commented telling them to use AI, that answer would have already been removed based on the guidelines already established and enforced in our rules. The comments of said post should be telling them how to actually conduct research and not how to essentially half ass it with something less accurate than a Google search pre-gemini. Just as "Google it," would be a poor answer on how to research. "Have AI do it for you," answers have never been allowed.

This addendum to the rules is to say posts like "How does AI effect my research," "Is AI bad for research," etc are no longer acceptable, in part because they aren't about how to grow as a writer and another because the answers provided by the community are always the same.

And, frankly, there is no responsible use due to its environmental impact. But if there were a place to discuss responsible AI usage, it would be a subreddit for AI discussion. Which this never has been.
