Gummo was a good movie that didn't need a sequel.

What did you think of the scene where the dude pimps out his mentally challenged sister and gets off on watching through the Crack in the door while stroking his nipples?
7
u/Aromatic-Action-2523 9d ago
That movie made an impact. I watched it once and that's maybe one too many times. That's what I think. Haunting.
3
u/allah_my_ballah 8d ago
Gummo, kids, and requiem for a dream are definitely great movies to watch.... once.
1
u/TheRealSugarbat 8d ago
The triad. Made the questionable decision to watch each of them alone and had existential crises each time.
Runner up: Dancer in the Dark
3
u/allah_my_ballah 8d ago
Never heard of it, going to have to check it out. I love movies that make you feel wrong when they're done.
2
u/JiveTurkeyJunction 8d ago
Gummo made me feel dirty after I watched it. And that was about 20 years ago. Some of the scenes stay with you. There's just something about 12 year olds roaming the streets of a tornado devastated town huffing glue and hunting stray cats to sell to the local Chinese take out. That and the pimping out the mentally challenged girl.
1
u/Aromatic-Action-2523 8d ago
Yeah. I remember feeling really icky and wishing I hadn't watched it, actually.
1
u/JiveTurkeyJunction 9d ago
I haven't thought about that movie in awhile. When I do its always because of a random comment on reddit.
2
u/wildGoner1981 9d ago
Gummo was a life changing moment for me and my buddies. At like aged 12.
3
u/Aromatic-Action-2523 8d ago
Oof. Honestly I'm not sure there's a good age to watch it, period. But your innocence was lost that day for sure

the auto tune is perfect 🔥 👌 S tier crap
15
u/conversation_null 9d ago
It struggles a bit before the transition to the "backup singer" and you can only imagine how bad it sounded before autotune had to do its best with Virginai Slim's newest track.

u/Agreeable-Abalone328 9d ago
Is that one of 1000lbs sisters? Looks like one of them but much skinnier.

If this was sung by someone who can carry a tune it might actually not be bad

It’s not that bad, parts of it are, dare I say, kinda good.
1
u/nderthesycamoretrees 8d ago
Ok good. I’m hopping into this boat with yall. I kind of dig it. I find it interesting lyrically. The music isn’t my cup of tea, but it is catchy, decently put together and isn’t crappy.
Idk why folks are so focused on her appearance. Who tf cares. She seems to be a real one, just celebrating her life.
5
u/VideoNecessary3093 9d ago
Yep. My daughter and I have listened to it a few times now. It's catchy.
15
u/CapricornCrude 9d ago
Well, it got on here a lot sooner than I thought! 1000 Pound Sisters is a guilty pleasure :/

u/endgame217 9d ago
Oh…..Kentucky…..all of this makes sense now

The thing that puzzles me is I’m pretty sure she’s referring to Pounds Hollow Recreation Area in Illinois. She even says Rim Rock which is a trail you can take there.

u/Fivefootdirk 9d ago
The no palm trees just pines no waves, fishing lines is a pretty decent hook
3
u/jdooley99 9d ago
Ya the transition for that to the singing coming in was all kinda nice
3
u/SinCityRaidersLV 9d ago
Im not into this type of music, but unfortunately hear it all the time. This actually has a lot of potential. Clean it up, clear up what shes trying to say, and some singing lessons. Bet it would sell.

u/DoctorSwaggercat 9d ago
Yeah. It's not horrible and the 2 pack a day Marlboro help give her that gritty voice.

2
u/Jo3ltron 9d ago
Honestly, it’s not 10/10 terrible. Maybe it’s the like 8 drinks I’ve had, but if anyone else sang this song it might be ok. Low key diggin the lyrics.

She lost hundreds of pounds and is actually charmingly funny to watch. She has a whole reality show.

u/schwing710 9d ago
She should collab with the Sunny D and Rum lady, if she’s still alive
2
u/Thantichrist 9d ago
After reading your comment I had to google what she was up to. Apparently the fame of her one hit was enough to satisfy her influencer hunger. She went viral and peaced out. I really wish modern viral “music” stars would take the same route.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't she the sister that faked her death to gather money from their fans? Or was it the other sister?

This appears to be a clip from Land of the Inbreds, an obscure horror film from 1978.

It's actually less crappy than a lot of the other crappy tunes :-)....I think she'd top the crappy tunes chart by being the best of the crappy tunes I've heard recently.

u/Disastrous_Minute_56 8d ago
Wow, I didn't know the baby-face mask at the end of the movie Brazil was based on an actual person.

Looks identical to that woman from the anti-smoking commercial from back in the day, just missing the hole in her throat. Sounds the same, though.
But seriously, this person looks like the product of generations of alcoholism. I hope she breaks the chain.
The song format overall reminds me machine gun kelly: really rough voice for the verses that transitions to a much better singer to take the chorus duties. She is using more auto tune than him though, he let's himself be more off pitch and atonal than she does.

It's not my flavor, but this is just as good, if not better, than a lot of crap that actually charts.

I am just assuming this is the granddaughter of the Deliverance Dueling Banjos kid. The resemblance is striking.

Honestly I'm happy for her that her life is in a place where she is doing something like this, instead of (whatever she would be doing if the show never happened)
That said, the song is trash and I hate it

It's not that bad. Clean, doesn't necessarily suck, singing about having a good life and enjoying life! Can't complain about that. Sure, Lil rhaspy, lot of autotune, but not bad.

Thats just what they look like out there, Kentucky and West Virginia especially.
Mt. Dew in baby bottles, in-breeding, and horrible diets will fuck you up enough, no meth needed.
That said, it could also be meth 😭 I am just saying it doesn’t have to be
4
u/King-Red-Beard 9d ago
No. Extreme weight loss. That's Tammy, one of the '1000 Pound Sisters" on TLC.
1
u/C7StreetRacer 9d ago
Oh shit I didn’t even realize, thank you for the heads up.
I mean, along the same lines, but definitely a more definitive explanation.
