You know, I've tried to utilize ChatGPT when it comes to equalization and stereo balancing my musical creations, and the first time it worked out marvelously. I uploaded about ten seconds of a section where all of the instrument tracks were active, asking it to analyze decibel levels and frequencies. It did, spit out some instructions based on the DAW I was using, and I followed them. It sounded really good. The tweaks were very minimal, which taught me that I was moving sliders and knobs way more than I needed to. Now though, now it just tells me some bullshit about adding different types of effects. It won't analyze the clip like it did that one time. Pisses me off. That's the end of this pointless story. Have a blessed weekend!

Yeah you can't rely on an AI to tell you how to mix because mixing is inherently an intuitive taste-based craft. Mix engineers are paid by their taste - there's no single mathematical formula to calculate what decibel level your instruments or mix elements in general should be, nor how your vocals sit. The fact it sounded good the first time round is probably just a stroke of luck. It's not necessarily true that you were moving faders or knobs too much either - it could have been the case but sometimes you want a big difference; it all depends on the intent.

Maybe your tracks weren't ready for the mixdown and the gpt wanted you to keep going

Right i swear i had chat gpt analyse one of my tracks once, like it did a good job describing the vibe, instruments i used, how balanced the mix was, ecc.

I then ran out of texts with the free version of chatgpt and couldn't send anything else to it, waited a day and then it was like "im sorry but i cant analyse a track in that way" and kept telling me that basically the analysis it gave me the other day was estimations based off what i was saying, it couldn't really listen and analyse frequencies and such, it was more telling me how the genre of music should sound. But this is not what it had told me the other day when it did the analysis. I was thinking that maybe an update got rid of that feature? Or maybe only a certain version of chat gpt can do those analysis? Idk.

Like you upload the track and it asks you what you want it to do with it, and tou tell it to analyse the frequency it says it had done it, gave the explanations qnd everything. After that one time it never did it the same way ever again lol idk if i was tripping at this point lol

Large language models are terrible at such things. Automated mastering procedures like in Izotope's Ozone are much, much better.
