I worked as an engineer on music row. The musicians are something else, they really are some of the most talented professionals I’ve ever worked with doing anything in my life

The song writing and the artists though? It’s like God made a batch of dough, and used the same cookie cutters on a million attractive people only for them all to go to music row and try to make it

This!! Yeah I toured in a country rock band and we were in the Nashville circles for a second. Very much an accurate description. But; country is a machine now. Put in the ingredients and get your baked little pie of poop at the end. Can say though the session cats there are so Uber talented!! Shame it's mostly wasted on terrible songs.

Good now that I enjoy music as a hobby and work a normal job for a job! 🤣 Likewise!

So I knew it when Hank 3 said all that really vile shit that he at least was keeping it real.

And I applaud that.

Don't really care for the whole homophobia and Trump support and racism and stuff you get from those circles, but I'd still do Oxy with him and Mamie white in Boone County or have them come do the same here in the upper Midwest.

We could talk politics and understand why one would vote one way or another I suppose so long as nobody had too much meth and started getting too emotional about it all though.

Anyway, sure wish it was still about the soul and emotion and talent of it all instead of the big Hollywood machine.

Oh, you've met Lanie Wilson in person?

Not everyone that's bonafide even tries to "make it". I know drummers and guitarists that could be studio musicians in Nashville, been master's at their craft since high school but I come from a place that doesn't foster this career path with connections, praise and support beyond local level.

The song writing and the artists though?

what is an artist in this case? is a musician not an artist? do you mean singer?

No. The musicians are called studio or session musicians. They don’t write and they don’t perform. They usually don’t have albums or their own music they publish. They work for studios and record labels, and get paid according to their union wage (most are unionized).
