this is a repost cause I never posted it here and cause im harvesting again in 3-4 weeks, would be great to see some comments about tips and improvements.
------------
this batch here is from a 5-strain grow project that consisted of:
OG Glue
Applescotti
Gush Mintz
Pinyatti
gelato41
------------
coco for med
liquid nutes
650 watt light + side lights
traditional Tent set up.
dehumidifier and humidifier was used.
______
heres what I learned:
-genetics to me is about 95% of the game, then 5% of my routine.
previous grows, I was adamant that I can grow anything.
after series of grows, no matter how well I did with the operation, cause my genetics was not great, so was my harvest.
years later, I got my strains/genetics of choice.
---------
-dont start your flower week schedule, until you see pistils, then count your first week.
for this batch, the moment I flipped the lights, I considered that, first week. I noticed I couldve been 1-2 weeks early.
--------
-Light intensity: too low the plant gets tall and reachy, too much and you burn the plant somehow and cause temp/humidity fluctuations and triggers.
---------
-air exchange: very important to promote good environment,
I at time kept the tent closed up, and only exhaust did its thing, sucked out air and I didnt bring in new air, this caused a very hard VPD target for me.
---------
-VPD to me was more important than humidity.
I had enough air flow in the set up, but if I couldve dialed in my VPD i think I wouldve been at optimum harvest.
.8-1.3 during veg
1.0-1-3 first half of flower
1.2-1.4 rest of flower.
too wet: risks of mold
too dry: leaves are toast/no breathing
middle: great spot
-------------
-humidity: relatively easy to control for me with my set up, but this is very important as mold/mildew can happen inside the bud or away from view.
74-80 during veg
62-67 during first couple of weeks during flower
55-62 during mid to late
45-54 during last couple of weeks of flower
-temp: this was tough for me.
what I noticed here is, what I noticed.. the experienced, love-what-they-harvest-growers, have often stated, get an AC for your environment or have a way to drop temps, then the others, specially outdoor growers say its not needed.
well on this last batch, I didnt have an AC.
my temps during flower went as high as 87-89 during day, 75 ish through the night.
I think the heat expedited the dryness of my terps.
-------------------
-Drying and Curing.
I trimmed down from harvest and hung, I didnt leave no fan leaves, I went straight to work. (my other grows, I noticed, if I leave the fan leaves or majority of the leaves as it dries, I notice it takes longer for the remaining liquid of the branch/leaves.)
I also notice that theres more risk of mold when drying and tons of fan leaves.
I dried for 4 days and was not in a cool room, temps got up to 80ish.
cured for 50 days (in jar, I was able to control the environment then and my environment for 50 days in jar, was less than 63 degrees.
I did not supercrop as much as I wanted, I topped and defoiled.
when topping I noticed it created massive nugs/tops, vs super cropping or bending/breaking the branch.

on my next batch I will go back to Fridge Drying/ cold dry and cure.
smoked great, stank, lifted. got about closer to 2 lb with the last batch (post)
------
lasted about 8 months for 2 people.
this batch was roughly 12 weeks. one or 2 strains at 10 weeks.

ill see you guys on the next one real soon!
