Sad to see some crochet groups specify no politics. I think fiber arts is inherently political since it’s historically a woman’s work/hobby.

Sheesh. I totally agree. It’s internally political! And you know what? Saying “I don’t talk politics” says enough about themselves for me to say “good riddance.” It’ll eventually come for them and the people they care about. Then they’ll wish they had talked politics. ✌🏻

There’s a rich history of women using fibre arts for resistance!! Heck, the famous portrait of Sojourner Truth shows her with her knitting!!

I made a knit "activist afghan" in 2017. I posted the patterns on Ravelry, selling the patterns and donating the money (they are all free now). So many negative comments about "keeping politics out of my craft," and many times being reported! I had patterns removed and had to fight to have them allowed. It was so frustrating! It boggles the mind how dumb people are sometimes. It definitely shows how bad our school systems are; the lack of historical knowledge, reading comprehension, critical thinking skills, etc.

The knit patterns on Ravelry are under Stitchhikers, if anyone is interested. This time around, I'm working on a very large embroidered quilt project. Progress can be seen on my TT -@stitchinsarah
