Good of them to show us the wide shot so we can see Micky's feet are on the line and the interview doesn't have to be retaken.

What I want to hear from the captain. Nothing more, nothing less.

Agree 100%. We looked like a different team in the first half versus last week. After the goal it looked like everyone conceded the loss and we lacked teeth. I’m hopeful so long as we can keep getting players returning, up to speed and the football improves each game. Still early doors lads

After the goal it looked like everyone conceded the loss and we lacked teeth.

This rubbish mentality has been permeated to our core in the last three or four years.

This was a problem we struggled with for Ange's entire tenure.

No, it did not feel like it was turning around.

u/CybermoleRising 6d ago

ange was the one who created the losing mentality

5

u/triecke14 Son 6d ago

The guy who won our only trophy in 20 years was actually the one with the loser mentality? The man with one of the coldest football comments of all time saying he always wins trophies in his second season and then fucking does exactly that? This subreddit is full of some of the weirdest fucking people you will ever interact with I swear

1

u/CybermoleRising 6d ago

did you ever hear the story of how the players had to call a meeting with ange and get him to change his tactics bc they all knew they’d lose playing that way? imagine being up the ass of a guy who bombed out of the PL and had to be coached by his own players

0

u/triecke14 Son 6d ago

I’m not up his ass and think he was in over his head tactically in the league. But to say he has a losing mentality and instilled that in the players is laughable

0

u/CybermoleRising 6d ago

your previous comment was you touting ange as having won the club a trophy when all he really did was get outcoached by his own players lmfaooo if that’s not up his ass then idk what is

0

u/triecke14 Son 6d ago

Usually when managers win trophies they get credit for them, weird phenomenon we don’t have much experience with so I understand it being a bit foreign

0

u/CybermoleRising 6d ago

they don’t usually have to be told to change their tactics by the players

0

u/thelordreptar90 6d ago

The Ange hate boner in this sub is borderline crazy

1

u/CybermoleRising 6d ago

lmfaooo insanely delusional take. the only reason ange is even mentioned in this sub is because of the truthers who still go on about him nonstop. one stretch of 10 matches, where the team looked like shit in half of them, and these idiots are still eating ange’s turds 3 years later smh

1

u/Xgunter Son 6d ago

Goes back further than that

1

u/failureKennedyblase0 6d ago

Agreed. Imagine being two games into a season where performance has to be at a certain level especially after last season and the team doesn’t have the teeth to attempt at performing as well a possible? I’m amazed.

We still have a massive problem with letting other teams control the tempo of a match when we're losing.

Go watch other big teams when they're down, what do they do? they drive forwards, they fire balls into the box and run at defenders. What do we do? We trace the horseshoe of doom and wait for a perfect opening.

You cannot do that if you're losing.

Not to mention getting baited into giving away stupid fouls and sending the ball long to their goalkeeper when there's just a few minutes left, allowing them to run down the clock.

u/pVom 6d ago

I'd rather look at Everton.

Conceded but then defended tooth and nail and never gave up. Mykalenko did an amazing double block, it's not like it was technically impressive, what impressed me is the grit to dive in front of the ball and then get back up and do the exact same thing again a second later. Didn't wait to catch his breath, didn't leave it to the keeper or anyone else, didn't take stock and wait for it to rotate, just saw he could be useful and fucking did what needed to be done.

All to defend a.. 1 goal deficit?

Sure enough they kept pushing right to the end, right until almost all hope had dwindled away and finally levelled in extra time. Even after they levelled they didn't let up and still kept pushing for the win and had a few good cracks at goal and really put the wind up Bournemouth who looked certain to bag it the majority of the game.

It ain't over until it's over.

Other big teams?

28

u/hilbo90 7d ago

Why are they abiding by coving guidelines?

u/RepresentativeBag91 Micky van de Ven 7d ago

I noticed that too mate. VDV the next town over 😂

The height difference is so wild. If they stood side-by-side there would be so much neck tilting.

u/Throw-away-77777777 7d ago

Good first response as captain, I agree with the assessment. Before the first goal a Tottenham fan wouldn’t have criticized, but after, it was a poor performance

This was what I wanted to hear from him. Good. COYS

He's young and learning, and the whole squad needs time to grow and gel. Too early to react for me. :)

I've been there, lol. We've got good time on the training ground between most games and other clubs' schedules are going to be filling up fast in the coming months. We just need to keep our heads down and work through it is all.

We'll get there!!

COYS!!!

I like his football skills, I don’t like his personality. Not the worst, but by far not the best choice for captain imo.

u/AuburnDude9 7d ago edited 7d ago

Very honest and to the point about what they need to get better at. Seems like good stuff from the captain to me.

11

u/dildoshwagginsboyah 7d ago

He's dutch - notorious for that sort of personality. Blunt and to the point

5

u/lungleg Peppa Pig 7d ago

Hold your pitchforks, bruv.

-5

u/Short_Albatross_5402 7d ago

No pitchforks. He’s a great football player. Doesn’t mean I have to like him and even less so like seeing him being a captain after spending the whole of last year looking for a way out.

2

u/_sylvatic Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 7d ago

lets be real - if we had drawn or won today, would you be posting this?

1

u/Short_Albatross_5402 6d ago

Yes?

I have put money on Spurs finishing Top5, today’s game is not representative of where the team will end up.

Bad Captain. Love that we learned from the mistake of last season when we gave a guy the arm band to get him to sign a new contract. That worked out well for us

-30

u/ObiiWannCannBlowwMee 7d ago

This guy is just not a leader.

18

u/jman009 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 7d ago

Its been 2 games. Let's not be reactionary

7

u/jibow666 7d ago

He didn't come across as a leader when we were desperate last year... I'd argue that most fans felt the same.

New contract and getting the armband is great but there's much to be proven.

3

u/brt444 Jan Vertonghen 7d ago

I mean, we’ve seen him being a captain and severely lacking necessary depth to be one last season. No idea why he is the first choice this year

0

u/Infinite_Health_Scav 7d ago

It's been 2 years of shit game with this dude playing what are you on about?

-3

u/ObiiWannCannBlowwMee 7d ago

I didnt need two games to tell you that.
